The heat issue will probably be solved when some other manufacturers get their hands on it and put on some better cooling solutions on it. Im assuming what we have right now is just the reference OEM version right?

interesting...Samsung SSDs not holding up real well over extreme time & write amounts compared to Intel, Corsair, and Kingston

The SSD Endurance Experiment: 200TB update - The Tech Report - Page 1

It's important to keep things in perspective, though. We've written 200TB to the drives-the equivalent of more than 100GB per day for five years-and most of the SSDs are completely intact. Even though a decent-sized portion of the 840 Series' flash has expired, the drive appears to be far from failure.

Jesus, is that case so wide that the power supply can actually sit backbehindthe motherboard?

nice choice on the Enermax fans, They are very, very quiet. I've been using them for about a year now on my H100i water cooler radiator. I went with 4 of them on each side of the radiator in a push/pull configuration, and it works great.

The case is not that wide. The power supply sits vertically hidden on the other side of the case with all those other ugly cables nobody wants to see. Great design, great airflow and beautiful finish. Can't go wrong with Corsair cases. I'm very happy with the look of the Enermax 120 mm fans. They are very quiet too.

What case are you using?

Alright so I got an I5-2500k, 16gigs of ram, GTX 570 CU, 2x 120SSD. I have been out of the loop for a while and wanted to know what would be my best bet for an upgrade.

Would upgrading the Video card alone suffice? And if yes, what would be the best choice if I am mostly looking to play BF4 on High/Ultra settings? I thought about buying a second GTX570CU, but the damn thing is so huge, that i doubt it will even fit in my HAF 932 Full tower.

Video card is about the only thing that is going to make a significant upgrade, and you're going to have to spend a decent chunk of money to do so. You'd probably need to go up to something in the range of at least an AMD 7970/280x or Nvidia 770/680 to see a significant enough difference to make upgrading worthwhile.

SLI 570s isn't a terrible option though. Performance-wise they'd probably clock in around the performance of a Nvidia 770, but like you mentioned, with 2 huge cards you aren't only dealing with space issues, but also heat and power consumption.

So you're probably looking at $350+ for a single card solution that would be a decent upgrade over your current 570.

The only problem with adding a 2nd 570 will be locating one. You might have to buy a used one, they are long gone on sites like Newegg.

edit - Now that I said all of that, I'd nix the 2nd 570 idea, you're going to be pretty limited with the 1-1.2 gig of memory going forward. I didn't realize they were mostly 1 gig cards, I thought they were 2.

Agreed. Upgrading your CPU/RAM/SSD is not going to improve your frame ratemuchfor BF4. Upgrade your GPU and you'll be all set.

Here is a chart showing that:

Source:CPU Benchmarks - Battlefield 4 Beta Performance: 16 Graphics Cards, Benchmarked

And here is the comparison between the i7-3960X and i5-2500K showing how much more powerful of a CPU the 3960X is:Compare Core i5 i5-2500K 3.30 GHz Processor - Socket H2 LGA-1155 (Quad-core 4 Core - 6 MB Cache - x Box Pack), Core i7 i7-3960X 3.30 GHz Processor - Socket R LGA-2011 (Hexa-core 6 Core - 15 MB Cache)

Thanks for the advice. I think I am going to purchase a Radeon HD R9 280X. Time to give AMD a shot.

Need to get a pretty cheap desktop for a relative. Doesn't need to game or anything, mostly spreadsheet and browsing type stuff. Is Newegg the best/cheapest place to get a decent desktop? Or would I be better off ordering one from Lenovo or something.
