Kind of a let down. No filters for the top and the front filter is only designed for 2 fans?

So that AMD RX 480 which was supposed to be as good as the 980 GTX/390X turned out to be nothing but a 970 GTX speed. Still pretty good deal for $199, but LOL at AMD with their claims. Way to bring out a card to compete with Nvidias last gen.

Yeah i was waiting for it, but I think I will go with either a 980 gtx when they come down some (And I hope they do) or the 1070. But still for a 1080p build that RX480 is definitely tempting. Still $100 or so cheaper than a good 970 gtx.

1070 is the way to go. Very good price for performance better than a Titan X

I have no reason to upgrade now(every game I play atm and immediate future is fine on 970 , while gaming at 1920x1200 on a old ass 27" monitor). But probably look into a 1070 and a new PSU sometime around new year(PSU is like 8 years old). Everything else in PC is new.

I really should upgrade monitor, but I just can't seem to find the motivation/justification for dropping 500+ on the newer monitors.

So I'm now finding myself torn. I have enough money for the that fancy Acer monitor that's about $700. But that $700 is now enough to get the dell TN panel(I know, shame on me) and upgrade my 970 to a 980ti. I suppose once they're in stock, the 10 series is an option too.

I'm now kinda leaning towards the monitor and video card combo

Screw that, a good monitor will hold you over 5+ video card generations and it retains it's value a lot better.

That's tempting for the lady to replace the old junker she is using right now but I've been burned so hard by refurbs over the years I just don't trust them anymore.

So, I just ended up getting a new computer after a lightning strike.

It is Windows 10.

Not 24 hours of the box, I ended up doing another fresh install (after the first one once it was set up) after Windows tried to do an update - which it apparently failed and then got stuck in a self repair infinite loop upon being restarted. Could not boot in safe mode. Is this something that happens often with the system? None of the hardware in the computer seems to have any defects or malfunctions. But I am 'spooked' now.

When you say "getting a new computer" do you mean you built it yourself or you bought some HP/Dell/whatever shitbox?

Windows 10 doesn't typically do that, but it sounds like you bought a premade. A fresh install is probably best in that case.
