Or you can get basically the same thing (save the CPU cooler and SSD which you can add) at a fraction of the cost using the link I provided above.

Hmm, was thinking about getting that deal and just noticed the net price has gone up $50 or so including rebates.

AMD CPUs are good if you want a slow piece of shit that doubles as a potent space heater.

Figured as much. I also did what Joeboo said and put the i5 4670k in the list. Was looking at a Corsair 500R for a case but then saw this for about the same price.

First one is white version and second is black.

For the mini-ITX builders;

Silverstone'sRVZ01Bis out now. Supports 13inch GPUs on a riser so it lays parallel to the motherboard.
Have to buy an SFX power supply and some short cables of course, but great space saver that can still house a full-power machine.

I dont understand why the hassle to create such small systems. Why not just buy a laptop then which is smaler self contained and portable with actual components that are made to withstand the heat and are designed with heat dissipation in mind?

I mean to each their own I guess, but you dont have the room for an extra foot in each direction? Do people live in boxes?

I build in a mid tower specifically for the purpose of heat dissipation so I can take full advantage of the chips capability to OC.

But this is just my opinion. I fully understand that other peoples sole purpose is to see how small they can build it.

my brother had a fragbox back in the day when mid-sized towers were virtually non-existent. Now I'm with you... I just don't get it.

That case looks great for a living room pc, why buy a steam box if you can build your own upgradable version? laptops are shit for gaming, fuck laptops outside of just web browsing. I personally prefer the micro-atx form factor for my pcs, I can sli 2 double slot graphics cards and it's tiny and super quiet. Full size atx is pointless unless you're gonna sli 3+ graphics cards.

Everytime somone talks about building a MicoATX machine, I imagine them living in an apartment that looks like this:

I just can't see a scenario where a case thats a foot taller would really ever matter.

The extra foot really doesn't matter, that's exactly why i build micro atx. My silverstone ps07 is on my desk rather than the floor, putting your comp on the floor makes it into a shit vacuum, gotta clean the fucking thing every couple weeks, i don't need that if it grants me zero benefit. After swapping in 2 noctua s12a pwm fans for the intakes my thermals across the board are 6-7 degrees better than my old full size arc midi, due to the close proximity of all the heat generating chips to the front intake fans. What's the price savings on building a full tower? 10-20 bucks? pass >;p

Mini-ITX != Micro-ATX. But I am with Laedrun, I prefer the form factor of a Micro-ATX. I have had mid towers in the past and they just look unsightly. Nothing screams nerdlstein like an oversized aftermarket computer case with cheap plastic fairings. I can also carry it from room to room without breaking my back. I ended up getting the Bitfenix Prodigy-M which is a bit chunky but still low profile and looks great. BTW my Prodigy-M stays cool as fuck and quite to boot. It's got vents all over the place.

Well you dont have to pick gawdy ugly looking cases either. I chose the antec 300. Its a simple design, no bullshit and it rather looks nice tucked away on the side of my desk in the family room. The other one I have in the living room. I have the flat sceen on a small lamp table and the case tucked away in the corner on the floor which no one ever sees.

Yes they do invite dust because they are both on the floor. But like twice a year I take them to the garage and blow them out with an air compressor and they are as good as new.

Removable dust filters are the best innovation in case design in the past 20 years. I can't even fathom not having that shit anymore. Every time Johanna at new egg pops off a dust filter from the intake fan of a case on those demo videos.../moan. >;p

Look for the versions that come with the color and led backlight matching Ducky mechanical keyboards. They had the package deal up on the next website at launch. Once you go Ducky, you never go back. >;p

edit: they're separate buys now it seemshttp://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/140

The white one with the white backlight on the keys is bonerific

Ducky's are still garbage compared to Filco's and heck even many of the up and comers (most of which like the CM Storm QF Rapids, are just rebranded Costars AKA Filco's anyway) IMO they're worth about 60-70% of their asking price.

I built a Mini-ITX box (Silverstone SG05) and am very happy with it. It can make a large difference if you keep your computer in the family room like I do, and not in an office. It especially matters if you have more than 1. For me it is as much aesthetics as it is space, the smaller case can fit just about anywhere including a wall-mounted IKEA shelf if you like.

It is better than a laptop for sure. I fit a GTX760 into mine and it would fit up to a 770. You can't get a full powered 770 into a laptop and even you did there would be massive heat/noise issues.

Although I like it quite a lot there are actually things I'd like to change. I feel like I could design a better case for my needs, and am actually thinking about building a custom enclosure out of Plexiglas. I haven't decided if I want to go through the hassle yet though.
