Maybe, but again why risk it unless you absolutely cannot hold anymore blues in your inventory? Also, remember that decoding rares will have a greater chance of giving legendaries post-patch as well.

I was pretty disappointed when I found out that Field Scout on my The Devil You Know only took the gun from 12 to 13 in the magazine. I already have a decent A.1F19X-RYL from a Vanguard care package, but it has different mods and is missing Field Scout. The stock version would have to be pretty damn good to get me to spend 150 marks.

I got Praedyth's Revenge (void sniper rifle) from the raid and it has the explodes on precision kills ability. I got me a double kill in PvP because of it . Shot a guy mid-air, his body fell and exploded next to someone else an they died. I giggled like a little school girl afterwards.

Best way to get Vanguard Faction? I need about 500 more points to level 2 and I went through all of today's bounties. I've got enough marks to buy the chest piece (my weakest slot by far) but need the actual rep to buy it. Or do I just wait another day or two for another round of dailies. Errr, I meant bounties.

10 rep for patrol missions, 25 if you can find VIP ones. Best way to do it is to get a group of three and all go to a different area of the map. That way you can complete most of the scan/explore missions really fast, and you can always be looking for VIPs.

FYI they are not rolled prior to opening them, now assuming that bungie doesn't nerf this for the patch. This only works for the crypt arch, for the faction vendors their rewards are prerolled before opening.

Like is said its up to you but the worst thing that will happen is you get it rolled back to a blue engram. Right now if you open a legendary engram your chances are pretty high you are getting a blue item anyway

Like Vorph said, get a fireteam to spread out over a map. Do all your bounties, and make sure you are doing all the bonus content for the day,

With the nightfall buff the 25 for VIPs turns into 32.

Once you have Crucible and Vanguard up to rank 3 switch to another faction, and funnel everything into it.
At that point its pretty trivial to get everyone to rank 3.


I currently have all the factions to over 3, and I'm switching faction every time I hit a new rank so every faction is around the same level in case they up the rewards on the vendors.

My biggest problem was treating it like a single player game for the first 20 levels. I did every story level appropriate and didn't bother with bounties unless I needed the extra experience to push me to the next recommended level for storyline progression. As such when I finished the storyline, I had next to zero reputation accumulated and now that's biting me in the ass.

Is there any evidence that suggests leveling up shitty legendaries all the way (unlocking everything except the final 3) gives any more ascendant mats than just breaking them down right away?

Still looking for scout rifle advice too, so here's a pic of my two current guns plus the one I could buy with marks:

First two are from rank 3+ care packages. Third is the 150 mark one that I could buy. First one does not have an option for Field Scout (+50% magazine size), second does and it is already installed. Third one also has it. Choices on first are incredibly fast aim, increased range/accuracy, or stagger rounds. I use fast aim currently, it's pretty nice actually.

Marks aren't really important to me anymore, I'll be buying a sparrow on at least one character on Tuesday and beyond that they'll be going to 65-mark armor that will be dismantled. Also, I only do PVE, and if it matters the gun is strictly for use by my gunslinger hunter (thanks to the Cryptfag who gave me a Symbiote instead of a Third Man helmet).

Which one would you choose?

Only problem with that is what you already expressed, and many of us are juggling right now, and that is bank space

How are scout rifles compared to autos? I've never used one and am using the Suros

I'm in the same boat. Soloed most of the stuff up to 20 and still haven't quite finished the story mode yet. My factions are all super low, as is the cryptarch. I have almost 0 vanguard marks, crucible marks, and I think just 1 mote of light. Kinda stuck now since my gear isn't good enough to get past 20 and not really sure what the best way to aquire more gear is (did the daily heroic solo today for the first time but it didn't appear to give me anything?). Also did my first regular strike yesterday (Earth) but the loot rewards were level 10 green crap.

Much more damage per shot (still less than a hand cannon though), quite a bit longer range, but semi-auto can be annoying. Though I tend to fire my SUROS scoped and semi-auto almost all the time anyway.

Mostly I'm just bored with using the same three guns on all three characters, so I geared titan for autos, warlock for hand cannons, and huntard for scouts. I have a really nice Bad Seed Down (full auto and fast reload on kill) and a Bad Juju, but pulse rifles just don't make the cut imo.

The only Queen mission legendary weapon is a sniper. It's totally randomized though. Mine's a void damage one with stupid magazine mods (Clown Cartridge and Performance Bonus) so I'm still trying to get another one. Hopefully a solar next time, since I still don't have a goddamn Ice Breaker.

Edit: To be more specific, complete the bounties to get a token. You can see these in your inventory under "Mission". Each token allows you to do a random mission, which seem to be much easier just to do solo. When in orbit, you'll see the queen's icon at the top of the left column. Guaranteed Legendary helm or chest, with a chance for a legendary weapon. Usually a sniper for me.

I have 4 of her bounty tokens, but when I try to click the queen's icon in orbit it tells me its a level 24 story challenge and that it requires better gear for me to attempt....so is there another relatively reliable way to get better gear since I'm not elligible for the queen stuff yet? Stuck at 20

Do strike playlist to get some 16-18 blues or farm a loot cave for engrams to get 16-20 blues. Or PVP.

You need 21 to get in the door for the queen missions, probably need 22 and some good guns (solar MG + arc sniper or arc rocket + solar fusion recommended) to have a reasonable chance of completing Restoration without being carried. The other ones are much more difficult and very long.
