L28 = 1 fully upgraded exotic + 1 legendary with two shard upgrades + 2 legendaries with no shard upgrades. So 28 shards total.
The weekly always gives three engrams now. One per tier or all three if you just do the 28. There's a small chance of one or more being legendary engrams instead of rares.
Daily heroic is the same. One engram at the end, chance of it being legendary.

Not quite as bad as I thought. I'm a couple shards short of the last upgrade on Knucklehead Duster, then I think there's two upgrades left on the queen's chest piece.

if you have an ice breaker you can solo nightfall this week really easy. on the last boss you can run to the box corner and hide behind it 100% of the time, can snipe him when he goes to the back and mid from there without having to get out. i didn't bother swapping weapons, my blue arc sniper was doing 1390 dmg while my (fully upgraded) ice breaker was doing 1000-2500 (higher end for head shots). it took forever since adds would start blocking my view with their stupid giant shields, but a few grenades and snipes and it would clear up for a little bit. I also would use a machine gun instead of a rocket launcher since you can accidently grenade/RL yourself in the corner.
warlocks definitely rule for solo'ing nightfall though, i died a few times to mistakes (not seeing tank fireball, not ducking when last boss does a volley into a corner sniper spot, self-inflicted grenade) but had my self rez every time.
too bad the raid requires at least 3 or 4 people to run mechanics like plates or venus/mars, woulda been fun to try and solo that.

It's impossible to solo any parts of the raid. For almost all of it you need a relic wearer, and the first phase you would have to cover the whole board to prevent sacrifices, and to shoot down all the oracles.

Someone at Bungie must think they're a comedian, because it seems like every single Mars activity that has extra modifiers has Angry at the top of the list. Not a big deal in a group since you can just flank them, but it's pretty annoying solo.

i farm queens when im bored. abandon if you get anything other than earth, that one takes like 10 mins tops and you can totally cheese it - kill the guys standing around, sniper the boss to the head when he comes out, use your offensive super, and then rocket launcher/MG should finish him off within 15 seconds. can run out to the previous room and regen your super if your gear isnt good, and just keep super'ing him every cooldown to kill him.

I believe that they patched this out of the rotation. I spent like 30 mins last night attempting to farm for a helm and I didn't get that map. Fucking 7 chest pieces later, still no helm, and my fag friend got the Sniper rile on try 2.

I've gone as high as like 13 or 14 without getting Restoration, and I also got 7 Restorations in a row once. Haven't done any today, but it was definitely still in the rotation last night and I doubt they'd bother taking it out now when the event ends tomorrow.
So what am I supposed to get for doing the daily heroic? I got no rewards when I finished, that I could see.
