The thing that makes me real Salty is Zarcath is one of us. He's from the old FOH boards, and he knows how a good game (Profitable doesn't mean good) should be like.

I totally bought into his vision of what the game will become in the future, but seeing all their decisions they are making today makes me question that completely.
It's a shame because the core of the game is great. It's the first time an FPS worked in a MMO raid environment.

If I had one word to sum up Destiny as is today it would be "Lazy"

Honestly I don't think new strikes or even raids would make the game all that much better. If there were 2-3 more strikes in the game, would it really make you mor excited to do strikes?
This game should have shipped with about 3 times the content. I really don't think that's a lot to ask, given that every planet is only a single map. Even the raid, which is great fun, is really not that big. The only reason it takes a long time is the duration of the fights and failed attempts.

I don't know a whole lot about making games, but I just can't fathom that tripling the content would have been that difficult. Especially given that most of the bosses are just slightly larger versions of regular mobs (e.g., Archon Priest -> Captain).

You act like he was making decisions. Am I confused what his role at Bungie is? Isn't he just a tester?

To put it into a little perspective I think that Bungie just didn't know how to make enough content at a time for FPS people and MMO people at the same time. They didn't know if the user base would be casual or hardcore or both. They thought it would be difficult for MMO people to switch to FPS and hard enough for FPS junkies to get into the MMO paradigm. They were very wrong.

I'ts everything tho. Everything should have been more.

They had an award winning design staff for multiplayer fps, yet they ship the pvp with absolutely no competitive support.
Not even fluff rewards for excelling on even that side of the game.

Releasing new vendors that just use the same old content month after month is just a slap to the face.

I'm almost think they really don't have anything more, and these next 2 dlcs will be very minimal at best.

I would have been fine with the content that shipped, if they would have slowly Introduced new content every 2 weeks. We can clearly see that is not the case, they are just reusing assets they have at launch.

I'm not sure what he does for that company, BUT if you look back on the post right as Destiny was launching, and people were beginning to criticize it Zarcath writes a pretty picture of what is to come. The whole analogy of Legos etc, and you are playing a MMO with out a monthly fee
At the time I had faith in that, but now my faith has waivered because I know how these things work out.

TO put an example in Alpha/Beta I completely laid out why hunters would be dominate in pvp by looking at their skill trees. Zarcath assured me that it wasn't going to work out like that.
I came with clear examples of why it would tho.

I bought his explanation of just wait, and now we can clearly see that Hunters are dominate in pvp. So much so if you were to remove supers out of the game, there would be no counter for them whatsoever.

On the flipside, why not give hunters anything to add to their plans for raiding? Did they expect that class to solely live in pvp which offers them no competition, and no rewards?

I mean, at this point I have a list a mile long of baffling decisions.

Why make a game that is supposed to be a social experience then do as much as you can to make communication limited.

Wait why exactly do hunters dominate pvp? They have the worst grenades and except for maybe blink (which warlocks also have) I can't think of any other advantageous talents. This is assuming of course you aren't counting supers. I do love me a 4 shot penetrating exploding bodies Golden Gun.

Column - yeah I agree there is so much more of an issue and we could probably go back and forth on all the problems. I think the major problem boils down to simply them not knowing how to mix MMO and FPS. If they could figure out how to make it work enough for both groups they could fix the rest slowly enough. There isn't enough content and playabillity to give them the time they need to fix it though.

Just outside of Supers, Hunters have all the tools to dominate the current maps in this game, and can spec into different forms of

Double Jump
Blink
Trap Grenade
High Agility
Ranged Melee
Health Regen
Invisibility

Vs Voidwalker

Blink
Nerfed Grenades from Beta

vs Sunsinger

Melee causes dot damage
Super low agilty, and no blink. Terrible movement
Best grenades in the game.

If you were to remove supers. Voidwalker becomes a lesser version of a Hunter, and Sunsinger is just a target.

Titan without their supers isn't playing.

Sorry this turned out longer than expected.

Core of game is good if not great, if it wasn't just about dollar bills we would have had a bunch more content at launch. It wasn't just a few strikes, 4 or 5 story missions were removed, 2 raids and who knows what else. Simple fact is Activision either had them release before it was ready or made them gut the game so they could reap in heaps of cash on the DLC.

So many basics are missing from this game, the whole interface seems like a last minute attempt to get the game out the door. Who doesn't have sound/music options (in the past 15 years)? Why do we have to go to our inventory to use ammo packs or weapon selection? D-pad could have been used so much more effectively. up-up for normal ammo, up-left for secondary, up-right for special. Down-down for primary weapon list, down left for secondary, left-left for dance, left-up for point etc.

The fact we have only one social hub in the whole game and it's stale as shit and only holds 16 people? Is that so we can show off our uber-loot to a few random people hosted on someone's ps4 so bungie could save more money and not set up servers? I won't even touch how shitty the net-code has been, once they ran out of Mammals and insects they started throwing berries at me!

The bounties are horrid and excessively repetitive, how hard would it be to add 20-30 new bounties? Shoot 100 fallen in the face every day (on three characters if RNG hates you) will give you carpel tunnel really fast.

My basic list of slaps in the face so far

- Two weeks for a patch that changed nothing but engrams (for the worse in some-ways, got more purples from cryptarch before) MMO's usually get massive patches in the first few weeks, we got this?
- Can't skip cut scenes
- Can't turn off music or adjust sound effects volume.
- Can't use voice with random groups or tower without adding as friends.
- Having to reload when joining a fire team even when standing next to each-other.
- Complete lack of itemization, everyone my level (29) has the exact same gear.
- Lack of communication and grouping options. /tell, /tower who wants to raid vault?

What makes this all worse is I HAVE TO run 2 titans at the same time to just try and get the raid gear I need to hit 30. Finished Vault so many times and only have one piece of raid armor. Chest and Gloves won't drop, some of my friends are running 3 of the same class in hopes of getting that last piece they need to hit 30. Brings me to the next big question, what do we do when we hit 30

This game could be great, but if bungee/Activision have decided that they want to nickel and dime us for content (as it seems the whole industry is doing) I might just give up on MMO's. I can't remember once playing UO, EQ when I would login and have nothing to do. Seems every step they make is to save money, they don't even need servers, force us to host the game mostly. Maybe if they invested in some servers the world would feel alive at least. Used to even enjoy zone chat occasionally.

Bungie : News

bungie_sl said:
Yesterday marked the one month anniversary of the launch of Destiny. Hard to believe. It feels like so much more time has passed, given the battles that have raged and the adventures that have ensued. Check out the achievements you've logged as a community:

Destiny averages 3.2 million players each and every day!
Average playtime is still right around 3 hours a day, even on weekdays, one month after launch.
The average player plays Destiny 1.8 times a day.
The average player has played Destiny 20.9 times.
Over the past three weeks, we've had more players online in Destiny than we did during the same span for Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, combined.
i'm probably fucking up the stats by being logged in afk like 15 hours a day

I would put money on them not fixing a thing this week including Atheon easy mode. Not even sure they know how to fix that this quickly.

Easiest way to fix atheon is to put in invisible walls. Trying to rewrite your AI is a bad idea.
The fact that they have such large zone files that include the DLC areas already means I guess they don't have something built in to fix a small area without replacing quite a huge area and I am not sure they planned ahead for swapping something like that out without a huge amount of QC which they might not be ready for. Add to that the certification process that MS and Sony most likely are going to ask for especially for a large file patch?

Just make it where if he falls off you don't get loot. No walls needed, problem solved.

I two manned him with a friend tonight and it was actually fun. His pathing is just awful and it was kind of a challenge just to get him where we wanted him. I pretty much equate it to EQ feign pulling. It isn't what they intended but when the game has this many limitations you can't help but try and push against em.

At least killing Atheon was worth it. Snagged a Vision of Confluence, Red Death and Chatterwhite. Its been a good weekend.

Well, they should. There ought to be a simple way to check that. Its kinda hilarious that he doesn't just despawn instead of counting as dead.

they don't need to go through sony/msft QA, thats only necessary for when they change the launcher itself. The launcher in turn downloads its own content which is 99.9% of the game. Its a trick more and more companies are using to get around the certification stuff, Final Fantasy 14 did it too. Obviously only works for the big boys, i doubt an indie game would get approval to do that.

did anyone get him to follow and fall if you jump down to the little ledge underneath? I already cleared normal and hard on my lock, it will be hilarious if they don't hotfix next week
