The main problem with the AH and loot system is that you are practically forced to use the AH if you want to progress with getting better items at a decent rate. Once I hit 60 I think I may have found 2-3 upgrades myself, the rest is bought. And we're talking 20-30 hours of game play (~10 hours per item?). Who the fuck wants to farm for 10 hours for a slight increase? Then, when I play other ARPJs I find upgrades much more frequently. Remember, the lure of ARPJs is the one-armed-bandit slot machine play. Small rewards frequently, not a large (and often small) reward infrequently. If they change the loot drops so you actually have a chance of dropping something interesting at least once an hour on average, then that will help a lot.

Also, I'm all up for an AH disabled ladder. Why D3 hasn't come up with ladder systems yet is beyond belief.

With the amount of copies D3 sold... you would think they would have done a hell of a lot more by now. Not just a Ladder.

I've been playing with a friend lately, we were in the crappiest of gear but are getting great upgrades quickly.
How should we progress in monster power? Should we keep farming faster in mp1 or is it worth it to graduate to higher mps?

And what are some good spots to farm?
We have been doing act1 mp1.
Festering woods-> Leorics manor -> Cemetery -> Highlands Crossing -> Try for the key and then we go butcher run.

Patch 1.0.7 increased experience bonus reward for the different levels of monster power. It used to be that the most efficient for leveling was always mp0 or mp1 regardless of gear level, but now the higher MP you can do the better. At the moment Act 3 is the best act to farm because it has a higher monster density than the other acts (though they're looking into fixing this in a future patch), but it will get tiresome to do the same thing over and over.

In Act 3 the places to hit are the keep (specifically level 2 but levels 1 and 3 aren't bad), the fields of slaughter, and the paths in between the towers.
In Act 2 you'd want to do something like Black Canyon Mines(2-4 elites), Road to Arcanus (1-2 elites) and then desolate sands and look for Vault of the Assassin (7-10 elites).
Act 1 I guess pretty much what you're doing. I like to check the northern highlands for the tower.

Unfortunately, and its a poor design, killing end bosses isn't really worth the time and effort. They take time and there is no real bonus to kill them instead of an elite pack. The manor itself in act 1 though isn't necessarily bad though because the prison has high monster density.....just saying you wouldn't lose anything by taking butcher kills out of your runs.

Key Wardens are also kind of a waste of time on anything below mp3. 10/20% drop rate is just too low to justify going and finding him if you're trying for maximum efficiency. I would recommend waiting until you're comfortably farming higher mp levels before you worry about keys or uber bosses. Don't waste your keys/machines on uber bosses below mp6, unless you're just wanting to experience the Uber bosses.

MP 1: 25% (up from 10%)
MP 2: 50% (up from 20%)
MP 3: 80% (up from 30%)
MP 4: 120%(up from 45%)
MP 5: 165% (up from 60%)
MP 6: 215% (up from 75%)
MP 7: 275% (up from 95%)
MP 8: 340% (up from 115%)
MP 9: 420% (up from 135%
MP 10: 510% (up from 160%)

Tons of 1.0.8 info coming out. One interesting nugget. Basically the bonus XP from NV multiplies instead of just adds. Someone from reddit says it better.

What does this mean? Here you go:
On Monster Power 10 you get 510% Bonus Experience. Before patch 1.0.8 a stack of nephalem valor would add 15%. This means you now have 525% bonus experience.
However in patch 1.0.8 it is not added on, instead it is multiplied. 510 x .15 = 76.5
So in patch 1.0.8, after that one stack you will have 586.5% instead of 525% bonus experience

Lately I have been considering firing this back up. What is the state of the game right now? How are Monks?

I'd consider waiting a bit for the new patch to come out. Will make farming/XP'ing a ton easier with greater density.

And monks are pretty decent but there is basically the tiers of Barbarian >>> Archon Wiz >>>>>>>>>>>>>> anything else

It's gotten better. The the introduction of monster power and better loot drops made it playable for me again. Whirlwind Barbs are just plain ridiculous in this game. Especially Whirlwind Rend barbs. They are by far the best farming class in the game hands down. But by them being so powerful I find them to trivial and boring. I spent around 100 million gold on gear in the AH and jumped right into MP8. It's the main reason why I stopped playing mine and I been leveling up a monk. The Wave of light or Tempest Rush builds are a good choice for monks. I consider monks to be on par with wizards and alot of streamers are starting to play monks. Critical mass wizzies kicks ass but it's just too much button spamming for me. If I was to level a wizard I would try the Black Ice build. With the fix to teleport LoS I expect more wizards to be played. They can teleport through the dungeon and blow shit up like in D2 on PTR.

How to get a level 1 to 60 in 35 mins. Apparently the Chinese has been doing this for a while and it hasn't been fixed yet.

Since there is no point to leveling additional characters of a class to try out builds, it hardly matters how fast you get 60. Except for our chinese overlords of course, to keep the gold farm running. So I am not surprised this has not made big waves so far. The easier gold farmers can replace banned leveling accounts by getting quick lvl60s, the more profit Blizz makes from them.

I dont find the NV changes important either Getting your xp faster doesnt change anything about itemization or build variety or making farming the monsters better then farming the AH.

Ok, the guy's accent is a bit strong. What exactly is he doing in that video? Do you get XP for PvPing and so you just have a guy send mobs over to a person who wants to level a character? Please break that down for me? Oh, and that would make a HUGE difference on Hardcore.

Player A is the person to be PL'd. Player B is a witch doctor. They enter a brawl. Player B constantly spams zombie dogs on Player A who just instantly kills them. Zombie Dogs give 12k xp per kill.

Go to PVP area.

Witch Doctor casts zombie dogs.

You cast some AoE spell constantly to kill the dogs. 48.6M exp an hour.

what level WD is needed? Are the flat XP (aka do they sacle with WD level)? My guess is you can't have the exploding dogs (is that even around anymore, or am I on crack). I have a WD, but would love to power level the other classes to 60 just so I have them for FoTM builds.

I'd imagine the pet level, along with their XP, scales with the player. But I have no definite proof.

Also make sure the witch doctor who will be casting the dogs has gear that lowers the cool down of the dogs to almost zero. He should he only have that gear on and nothing else. I saw a stream where he leveled a wizard from 1 to 60 under 32 minutes just to show Blizzard about it.

So lately I've had a real tuff time deciding whether to pick Diablo 3 back up, keep playing torchlight II or get into Path of Exiles. Is Diablo 3 the game it should have been at launch now or is it still a broken mess revolving around the AH? I've played through it twice on my monk but I'd be looking at creating a new class I think my Monk was continuesly raped on the third play through which is what made me quit.. Torchlight II is enjoyable but I have a feeling most people have moved on from Torchlight II and I want to play something with a big community. I enjoy the play style of D3 the most but I feel Path of Exile gives you more of a community feel.. So with that all said what do you guys suggest?
