BTW, I'm not saying your post itself was stupid. There's still an undercurrent of "why can't orange mean AWESOME?!?!" in this thread, that's the main problem. And it's been explained many many times why orange isn't automatically awesome. Some people just don't want to listen.
That's just fine, because most of my post was adressing someone else and sorta agreeing with you.

People expecting every legendary to be awesomer then the last are out of touch, or at least have very different expectations from my own. The nature of wanting legendaries to be unique also implies that many of them arent for me, because I'm not running a setup that they fit into. But even with that knowledge I can tell a 'cool but not for me' legendary from a 'rare that happens to be orange' legendary. With that said I havent researched any lists, what I found myself is good so this isnt my complaint at all (it might be once I've played the expansion a while, who knows). Something feels off right now but I'm betting that's because we're lacking some expansion stuff, like mystic and a larger pool of legendaries.

I wish the things you could buy with paragon were more diverse. It is certainly a huge step forward compared to the old version but still feels cookie cutter. I'm glad that they turned that into a system that can easily receive additions without requiring major overhauls, hopefully they take advantage of that.

After playing for a while this last week I'm reminded how lame the non-random zones are, adventure mode with actual random dungeons cant come fast enough.

What I don't think is being considered is the implementation of what's being asked. Either every legenedary has to have a unique effect(lots of development time) or the non unique ones get bumped down to rares. Rares are cluttered enough as it is with 4, 5, and 6 affixes. If I then have to pick up all rares just because once in a while it rolls a guaranteed stat or higher than normal, that's bad. At some point in my gearing progress, I want to pick up rares only for a few slots that I need 6 affixes, or because I need some for tradeskills. Blizzard has done a great job at decluttering the battlefield. Pick up something because you need to equip it or you need the tradeskill mat derived from it. If an item color become too ambiguous as to what quality of item it can contain, it just hurts the game.

So make another color you say? Maybe, it's not a bad idea at face value. I'm sure someone with actual game design experience could better comment on this. I feel that more oranges dropping overall is a better experience than having the really good legendaries restricted to a low drop rate. That's essentially what we had last patch.

So it doesn't pierce. Or it "pierces" the mobs that LTK hit? As in, it's Blizzard poor way to explain the fireball spawns beyond the LTK cone?

I have no idea what the piercing means in the tooltip. The fireball shoots out just like the hellfire ring proc, it explodes on the first target it hits.

I'm pretty sure it goes through all the targets after the one the kick hits. I had one, but it had bad stats, really bad compared to a legacy Mempo.

The lightning rune for LTK is pretty cool, I use it as my main spirit attack. I don't even bother with Cyclone Strike.

LTK does seem to miss a lot. If the target even fidgets, he seems to move outside the tiny hitbox. Goblins and LTK is just horrible. Gotta save it only for the times your spirit gen or dashing strike momentarily stops him.

But I'm the exact opposite Mist. I don't even bother with LTK unless I'm fighting a fattie or elite. Cyclone strike + WoTHF will kill things just as fast. Uh, that is assuming you have a great proc weapon...


Bells has its own problems, EP isn't a spender, and cyclone strike kills too slow or has a bad spirit:damage. And please don't even mention TR as a spirit spender. Ugh. Monks need a fix in that department. They're pretty damn awesome elsewise.

EP seems to work pretty well as a spender if you don't mind exploiting a bug (with cyclones).


Unrelated question, how do you judge if an item is worthy of keeping to "fix" with the Mystic? The best 1H I've seen so far (below) just dropped for me, and while it's worthless right now it got me wondering exactly what it would take for a particular item to be fixable.

I simply cannot play a non-tempest rush build. I got so spoiled doing that. Doing anything else seems so sluggish even if it's technically more xp.

As for your question, I keep an item if rerolling one affix would possibly make it an upgrade.




Zehn, see the build in my sig. I move just as fast as prenerf TR did, and faster than you do now. The bonus is that I don't have to gear/spec for longterm TR usage.

Have you tried LTK recently? I find the Lightning Rune (Scorpion Sting) actually hits a whole cleave-like area of mobs.

Do you play in a group? Everyone I group with fucking loves cyclone strike and we just clear so damn fast with annihilation. Soon as the first pack starts dying I'll dash over to next one and have everything bunched up by the time the group catches up.

While you may lose damage on your sheet from equipping something else, the attack speed you gain is totally worth it.



Also Zehn, I don't know if you've tried dashing strike since the patch, it no longer moves you a tiny distance if there's nothing to target. It can actually be used just like teleport to get around.
