Hatorade is correct, that is still quite cheap relative to other hobbies. There was a small tangent in the desktop thread, at what price does hardware and electricity make gaming comparable? I'm not sure we came to a conclusion other than "we're not there...yet" and "sucks that we're starting to think this way".

At least there is a resale market for the hardware or your restored custom cars.

What are you gonna do with all your digitally "leased" games that exist on services like Battle.net if things get tight and you need a little cash injection?

Its always been an amusing exercise us gamers use to justify buying shit we only use for a handful of hours and never think about again (in the case of bad games)

I’m reminded daily that despite our bitching, this is still one of the overall cheapest hobbies. I’m starting to restore a car now and I think my wife would rather me buy more games. Lol

I guess some people it gets expensive all the travleing to conventions and stuff. My personal hobbies are not cheap, gunsmithing/owning a lathe/mill, hunting all across north America, guitars and flying giant scale R/C planes up to 42% scale with 200cc gas engines. Gaming is cheap.

Guns in general is an expensive hobby as well.

The most expensive hobby of all for some men are women.

I was hearing the new DLC breaks away from "classic" D2R and potentially opens the window to do more stuff with it. D2R and Warlock versions are separate allowing them to keep the classic experience for those that want it while allowing the warlock version to be expanded/modified.
this is true, but it's actually already been like that; classic vs lod... now you can choose classic, lod, or warlock for game mode... can also upgrade lod characters to warlock (which you could do classic --> lod)

1969 Camaro. Right now I’m stripping it. It belonged to my dad. He has another he restored that’s a 69 Z28 to be as close to original as he can.

I’m thinking about tub kitting mine and putting a crate LS1 in mine. Upgrading the steering, brakes, etc. $$$$$

I have the original 350 block.

My old man spent a load on restoring an old Lincoln Zephyr. He's dead, it never got finished. Those restoration companies will keep accepting checks while making minimal progress while coming up with new excuses all the time. Similar to Warhammer commission ppl that took 7 months to do something I could crush in a few weeks after boning up. Which brings me to a point I wanna make.

The only success I ever saw was a do it yourself guy who bought an actual lift and learned to do it all himself. Some old green convertible, the name of which escapes me.

If you finish the job on something cool enough you can get special antique license plates, and usually get to drive it in some parade for some group that will pay you a bit to make back some on the immense cost + get some of the (I supposed desired) attention.

Justifying the cost of doing something you love is just a bad idea though. You decide if you're happy or not after the investment. Like for me, trashing everything this current woke zombie-Blizzard squeezes out of its corporate slop ass cheeks is worth far more than what I could be making with some side hustle.

Pet lock is lots of fun. Let the goats rape everything. Sit in the back and try to avoid getting aggro. Got through act 4 already.

So I didn't want to buy this expac as Warlock looked fun and OP, but PD2 has soured me on D2. But then my friends reminded me I could just play a different character since I own d2r. Not the case. I made a paladin and non ROTW characters CANNOT play with ROTW characters. I understand for a variety of reasons, but it eventually made me annoyed enough to buy it. $25 is too steep but hopefully the money is going to the good people at Blizz, if any are left. Then I couldn't figure out how to convert a character to ROTW, but there's a tiny little unlabled button on the bottom right of the character screen you press. I may vary well have been able to convert my characer to the expansion without paying, but most likely not.

That said, do NOT follow the Maxroll guide for Paladin leveling. Holy fuck. The Holy Fire leveling is great and then they have you switch at 19/Mephisto to Blessed Hammers and HOLY FUCK do they SUCK FUCKING ASS in 70% of layouts. I get they're the GG build end game, but without 2x Spirit and some more FCR gear you just sit there getting beat trying to cast two hammers which hit the wall and immediately disappear. Maggot lair was 50 minutes of me watching my merc poke his way through Duriels colon.

There's definitely a reason Paladins are always a 2nd character. PD2 makes leveling paladins fun and easy, but this game, holy fuck. Also you can't put auras on left click, still, even though people have been begging since D2R came out.

Speaking of D2, has anyone tried out Darkhaven yet? Supposedly from the OG creators of D1 and D2.

How do runewords actually work? Can you have 4 of them? Which ones do you use when leveling?

you can have as many runewords as you can equip.

The main leveling ones are: Lore (helm +1 skill), Stealth (chest), Rhyme (shield), Spirit (shield & sword +2 skills each and FCR), Insight (polearm for your act 2 merc gives you meditation aura)

only worry about 1 spirit, the only shield you can make Spirit in is a Monarch which drops in hell and requires 156 str and high level (unless youre a paladin)

Lore + Spirit sword + Stealth and an insight in a Poleaxe are usually the good starting items to aim for. Warlock also has Authority for chest which gives +2 and isnt too expensive it seems
