Here's a dumb question... If I just never got around to playing any of the Baldur's Gates or Divinity or Iceland Dale, what should I grab to try and jump in? Somehow the whole "western" CRPG genre tabletop rules thing passed me by throughout my whole gaming life. All the traditional JRPGs, action RGPs, and everything else I've played 1,000s of. So yeah, jump in with Divinity Original Sin 2 or BG3?
Probably BG3, it's DND 5e, and divinity has its own system.

BG3 is probably much easier to get into - a lot of dikumud adjacent MMOS like Everquest borrowed heavily from dungeons and dragons, so lots of it will feel familiar to a degree. It's also pretty beginner friendly, with the ability to dial up difficulty if you want. There are also a fuckton of mods available

I uh, like Divinity Original Sin quite a bit.

I see it's still 40 dollars though.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker for 19.95 is a steal.

I would do all the modern Divinity OS in order and then do BG3. If you do BG3 first, you will be spoiled by the game of the decade and it will ruin your other games.

^^But yeah, the patfinder games are fucking awesome too, same with Owlcats 40K game.

It's a game with problems but it is a very, very faithful rendition of the Temple of Elemental Evil module for the 3.5 edition of Dungeons and Dragons.

BG3 if you have to pick one but both are excellent. If you do both, DOS2 first.

Wait for the winter sale next week. DOS1 dropped to $4 and DOS2 dropped to $12 last year.
