Column asked me to put this in the amod thread but he can't post there so I'll put it here. To state my explanation more explicitly and verbosely, using the phrase "chimp out" on its own is not worth a 30 day rrp, but can provide the catalyst for a 30 day rrp if a poster has been particularly annoying.

Disappointingly enough I agree with the foundation of your argument in that thread (that sliding transitions are tools used by editors/directors to evoke emotion in the audience) and you clearly know more than a layman about cinematography but you took such a relatively easy argument and defended it in such a retarded and annoying way it just added noise to the thread, making your removal due to a racist slur a blessing to the thread.

It has been expressly stated that it gets used too much in the racial way, so it is a banned phrase on this forum. That's just the rule. Don't want to follow that rule? Your intentions when using that phrase are completely irrelevant. You could be thinking of Mother Theresa when you type it, it is still in violation of one of the very few rules on this forum. Don't use the phrase.

If that is truely the rule then the mods are letting alot of people slide on that rule. I just have to cite the Amod thread to show many cases of that word being used in racist context.

BTW if all this would have been stopped earlier when Sean was originally doing it I seriously doubt I would have to constantly argue all the time.

It's too late now. When the users on this forum feel they are safe to say anything to me with no consequences I will always fight, and I will never back down.

I'm not suggesting you leave, I was merely expressing my surprise that you don't, given my own perspective on things. And I don't find it particularly difficult to deal with anyone being here. Hang around if you feel you want to, whatever floats your boat. At the end of the day, I close my browser and don't think much of this place. That might be a good approach for you, just to manage your stress level.

But, by all means, continue reacting strongly to everyone who says anything to you, and then continue to be surprised when the community as a whole becomes tired of that, and reacts accordingly.

Again, I'm merely offering what I think are fair observations. Not trying to stir anything up.

as for sean, sean has been around these boards a long ass time. i was on #FoH or whatever the MIRC channel was back during kunark and sean would have his little tantrums almost weekly. people knew not to take him seriously or treat him like the damned fool he was acting. im not going to get into his personal life, but sean is nobody to ever tell anyone about anything outisde of a video game. and he takes his video games so seriously its not worth ever discussing them with him.
