Title: Dracula: A Love Tale

Luc Besson having a go at the classic novel. Filming done and in post-production, release date set for 2025. I highly Doubt they can top the masterful Coppola version with a tour the force performance by Gary Oldman and an absolutely stellar soundtrack by Wojciech Kilar.

The love story is an odd focus, however it is indeed the core lore- so it is just not a traditional thing to promote aspect of the Dracula story.

I was expecting the blurb to be something different from the “love story” part of the traditional lore, but its not so i was happy to see

Yeah, I still maybe watch the Coppola version once a year. If you like that soundtrack, which is phenomenal, used to hear the main theme music and a lot of movie trailers. Check out the Phillip Glass score for the original Bella Lugosi Dracula. He composed a bunch of music and got the Kronos Quartet to perform. It's different but he's one of my favorite composers, and it's really good if you like minimalist music.

For some reason when I saw the title I thought this was going to be a Forgetting Sarah Marshall thing, but that was "Dracula: A Taste for Love."

I'm not sure what you are trying to say there. But the love story/reincarnation angle was invented for the 92' movie, "bram stokers dracula".

The original had vampires as lustful, wanton as part of the ungodly Christian Victorian. the 3 sister brides.

Yeah, Brams really established the “base lore”

3 succubi are usually always there, but not part of his overal reason for turning from God etc they are after.

Castlevania, and essentially all Dracula stuff seed off Brahms - even this - heck even Dracula untold had a setup for Mina in Victorian era.

I'll watch this. Gary Oldman was awesome. I also liked Antonio Banderas as a vampire. I guess I just like vampire/werewolf flicks as long as they don't fucking sparkle and actually kill people.

Am I taking crazy pills? Bram Stoker's Dracula was absolute shit. One of the few movies I actually had to force myself not to walk out of. My buddy and I went to see it some random afternoon and very early on they have that scene where Winona is falling through the parchment or something, and we both looked at each other and said some variation of, "What the fuck is this shit?" We discussed leaving right then, but since we'd paid for the tickets we stuck it out. Soon after that was the fucking terrible train scene I think, but we still stayed for the entire movie. We should have just stabbed our eyes with forks or something instead. (My memory might be hazy on details, as I have literally only seen it that one time in the theater, because why would I ever rewatch something I hated?)

Yes, I can appreciate Gary Oldman, I love him in everything. But that movie fucking sucked.

You obviously missed the best Winona scene… heh

There are some fun creatives decisions in the movie. But to me, its lore, it set many of the “rules” and “standards” for vampire, especially Dracula lore and stuff.

What is funny is the sunlight thing, it didn’t kill him- he just was not powerful and was weakened or such- many will use the excuse that he just came out of his big rejuvenation from the voyage on the Demeter - so he was super refreshed and could walk in the sun some, or whatever.

But being a big /Castlevania/ fan- and that CV and sooo much other Dracula lore all are based in brhams it all is nifty and fun to see all the different interpretations and stuff and how things do

Actually, most of it is from Ravenloft. sure there was some back and forth, much like Zerg/Tyranids/Starship troopers movie.
But cursed Vampire, reincarnated love. ravenloft. (although, they do make note of Strahd having been inspired by Barnabus from dark shadows)

One Halloween, Foler Foler showed up to an Alpha Phi Alpha party dressed as a vampire with a calcium deficiency. his fangs were so weak they could barely pierce cockmeat. They still have a portrait of Count Nibblestein hanging above the master staircase.

I'll end up checking it out at some point, after all, I saw Dracula 2000 in the movie theater! Jesus, that was a stinker.

That one's got Gerard Butler... Go and check out 3000 with Coolio and 2000 will seem like Citizen Kane.

Isn't that the one that's in space! I think I've seen it, but forgot Coolio was in it. I do remember Gerard Butler being in 2000, and I want to say Wes Craven directed it, a group of us just went and saw it one evening back in college. I think it had a monster magnet video in it.

Also thought it was pretty goofy that Dracula was Judas Iscariot, and they had to hang him to kill him.
