But this way no one gets left behind, and we have that place all ready up and full of content to keep people engaged in case worse comes to worst.

Well, I'll give the new owners a chance to prove whether or not they're going to fuck shit up before jumping ship, but yeah, doesn't hurt to have a backup. Guess I'll get set up on rererolled (with the cycle of forums being what it is, I find myself wondering just how many "re"s the name will have in the end; can't wait to start posting at rerererererererererererolled).

I guess best case scenario is the owners marketing this place as the "mature poster" (or "cynical jaded fucks") alternative to mmorpg.com, and leaving it more or less as-is.

We'd probably still end up losing the porn, though.

I would have been willing to give it a shot if Draegan had even bothered to give us a heads up. Even a simple "I'm tired of running this goddamn place and want to get rid of it. What do you guys want to do?".

If some of the threads/content can be ported over then it's a no brainer. In the absence of that I'm willing to sit back and see what happens, as losing four years of content is a huge kick in the nuts. If at a minimum some of the bigger and more popular threads (ME, Politics, Gamergate, marriage thread, etc) could be migrated it would be a huge incentive to jump ship without hesitation.. Not sure what migration tools are out there that are viable without access to the underlying database though.
