haha. decided to check out this thread and /fuck it with spoilers...
kindof my thoughts on all of this.

I don't know about the gameplay, but you guys sure are not selling me on the story. hah
LOL xxexx is trying to spoil it in a way so that it doesn't really spoil what happens in the game. You can decide to drink the DA kool aid yourself if you want. It actually makes sense when you play the game. A lot of the backstory gets filled in and if you always wondered about some of the mysteries that surrounded some characters and plot in the first DA then the game is for you.

Beat it on mage and so trying 2h warrior now. The combat is definitely not button mashing for 2h warrior. Having quite some challenge but am advancing. Someone in this thread posted about how to get two NPC mages to stagger their barriers (rather than both cast it at the start), but can't remember how they did it. Anyone have a clue on this?

Slight suggestion, set one of the mages to not use Barrier at all, when you see the one who is autocasting it's barrier wear off, tactical pause and cast it on the other one. Obviously we should have Origins level control so that they do this themselves, but this works.
The way I do it for barrier with 2 mages is have one of them with a preferred barrier(solas who's spirit speced) and have the other mage with other stuff preferred(damage spells). Generally it means they'll cast their preferred stuff first, so they'll spend the first few seconds in a fight casting a bunch of other shit, then barrier, while Solas barrier right away, which puts them on different cooldowns then it works out fine, mostly. Though having one not cast barrier at all is better for pure control obviously. On my mage playthrough it was a ton easier, I'd just let Solas do his then cast mine whenever his was down.
Here you go khalid.

Vivianne is the fucking worst btw, I can't stand partying with her. Bitch is a special kind of arrogant and dumb. I'm gonna have to try and fuck her over in her quests if I can.

First time I just chose one of the default faces so I could get on in there, but through the entire playthrough I kept thinking about how I hated the way my character looked and sounded with the American VA. 2nd run, I chose the British female VA and actually took some time in the character creator for the dwarf. Much more enjoyable experience this round.

Way too big screenshot:

I spent a good amount of time doing my character; I usually aim for all of the same things, so while there are obviously differences, going through most bioware games has me look pretty similar. I'll have to do a comparison post or some crap.

Anyways, (Notable quest after you go to skyhold)

Once Hawke came up and I customized her, I kept the character as close to my old Hawke as I could. End result was that I liked my new gen Hawke so much that I have a hard time looking at my Inquisitor in anything but disgust!

The beginning scenes are not good indicators of looks either, because for whatever reason those fucking scenes are havoc on facial expressions.

I also went british VA because well, I prefer it, but this time it was the chick who voiced Specialist Traynor from ME3, which was really cool.

Any of the rifts that have a knight or laser beam wizard guy absolutely destroy me. Is this like a gear/level check or do I just suck?

Have one of the mages with "preferred barrier" and one of the mages with preferred other spells. The first mage will cast barrier first, and the second mage will cast it after they cast their other spells several seconds later

2H war becomes crazy spammy if you go Reaver. Though its really fun at the same time. Reaver on multiplayer didn't seem as fun but maybe I need a few more levels to get more out of it.

Just finished the Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts main quest. Awesome storytelling, but I get annoyed when I don't have the option to collect everything. After looking at guides I see I didn't miss out on much, still made me run around a bunch trying to figure out what I missed.

Note that if the mage without it preferred isn't in range to cast shit, he'll cast barrier instead so it's not really 100%. For dragons and shit you might want to turn it off and do it manually. Works decently most of the time though.

Man, I am enjoying the shit out of this. The character interaction and banter is enjoyable, the story is decent and more than Dragon-agey enough for my inner lore nerd, the gameplay not so bad, and it feels so massive with shit all over the place to collect, explore, etc. I am really glad I re-played DA2 and the Legacy DLC a few weeks ago too, that was certainly a big help with getting me oriented in the beginning.

I may have consumed so much Bioware kool-aid over the years that now I am little more than a servant to their whims, but good grief, this is a big, beautiful, meaty game. Definitely worth the price of admission.

*edit* - my main gripe: Cassandra is not nearly as hot as she was in the DA2 cutscenes. WTF Bioware, that's bullshit.

Reaver in MP is almost OP it's so good. With a high (250+) dps 2h you can get full life in one hit with rampage up. I can stomp either of the 3 bosses on threatening with 1 rampage. Just make sure you spec into the dragon rage/rampage tree and you will wreck.

Yeah I agree on the Cassandra hotness. They made her look way more battlehardened warrior and way less sexy dominatrix interrogator.

You're probably under level. Some of the areas get crazy jumps in level on certain mobs.

Dispel t the shields and they are much easier but those guys are pretty high level for the zone.

I figured after a few more hours of play, I guess I skipped to far ahead heading to a new zone.

Fallow Mire is one of the best looking zones I've seen in a long time, I can't wait to go back and whip that rift's ass.

Anyone know where there's a masterwork tier 3 medium armor schematic?
I found the heavy armor one, it's in southern Hissing Wastes.
