Stuff you'll need to enter pvp zones for:

Swordmaster starter quest
Mentalist and Benny final training bits
Final bits of the overall story (might be instanced though?)
T4+ power packs

Aka shipwrecks in Haga Basin, which are always deserted

they are technically PvP areas, but practically speaking you’ll either never see another person there or if you do, they’re doing the same quests you are and aren’t interested in PvP

That stuff is all part of my server, for a private server. Just share the 2 towns and the DD itself, which is likely always empty on my world cluster.

Haven't gotten far yet, taking it slow. Hookshot basically makes you desert daredevil combined with climbing. I've spent way to much flying around, bushwacking bandits from above, than actually accomplishing goals. Mixing skills down the road looks fun, but still a lowbie trooper. I usually build a couple bases by now, but I've held off since I haven't really seen much of the game yet.

Meanwhile I read shit about people farming the desert with actual sandcrawlers like it's FarmSim25: Dune DLC, thopters and carriers, and I realize I'm playing a different game, huddled in my little shelter with my raggedy assed gear, drinking the water from the blood of bandits and still licking flowers occasionally.

I suppose I have to go get civilized, or something.

Enjoy your time in Hagga Basin. I probably had over 100 hours before I even stepped foot in deep desert

I really love the early struggle in these kinds of games.

Old Empyrion was so good for that. Crash land in a pod in a jungle full of raptors. It's 140 degrees and you are running for your life, half dead, trying to find a little bit of iron so you can make a constructor. Good times.

Test patch blows on test server. Good luck getting spice or sand for silicon when it goes live. About enough time to get 2 piles before a worm comes.

Server I've been playing on lately made a "dojo" for duels in the deep desert. Had almost 20 people there tonight

Lost a carrier to “sky halud” this morning. Me and guildies were at a spice field and because of some issues, the worm got aggro’d. Guildy takes off in the carrier and grabs the sand crawler, then the worm basically flies out of the dune horizontally like a fucking dolphin doing a dive like 200 feet in the air and blows up the carrier. Crawler survived and dropped to the sand after

did the crawler escape?

we had a flying shia leboof once. One of our guys kind of ramped over it and then b-lined for an island. and shoe lahoot rocketed out of a sand dune and flew at him. when he reached a safe place. it then flew into the sky like falcor from the neverending story and zoomed all over before vanishing over the horizon.

we were terrified.

Ya, crawler survived. Small worms don’t aggro crawlers naturally. They will however aggro the grandfather worm after a while if you don’t use the unique treads (which give you more time before the big one eats the field)

I imagine this kind of thing will be even more super awesome after the next patch when any contact all with a worm just insta-kills anything.

the whole time i played dune and thought about the worm insta killing people, i thought "wouldn't it be more fun if guarding a harvester meant fighting monsters instead of playing redlight/greenlight with "loose all your stuff".

like if you made a C&C game version of this where guarding the tiberium harvester involved shooting mutants and socialists in various color uniforms.

Guarding a harvester in this game is usually against other players more than worms. I usually loiter at 749 meters and look for signs of incoming aircraft
