Translation: All we did was condense the PvP area to make sure gankers and griefers have an even EASIER time finding victims while not actually fixing any of the issues with late-game grinding. I'm sure the resources spawning in the southern half of the desert will not even be worth stopping for on your way to the far north.
That was my thought as well. You've basically made it so the griefers only have to look in 5 rows instead of 8.

Worse though, it seems like there's fuckall for resources anymore. I flew the entire length of I and H and found zero spice. In fact, the only spice I've found this morning was two small patches worth about 500 each.

man i'm salty. I have a base built on soft sand, in a no-worm-meter area. i built out my foundaiton getting closer to the worm-meter-sand.

SO this morning i see a worm surface far away on the horizon. it just waggles around and sinks back down. i think tomyself "i wonder how far from the foundations the worm-meter-area is...hop down. walk about 10 yards. INSTANTLY when i step on worm-risk-sand it's red, flashing, and the ground begins to shake. i turn. suspensor jump and the worm appears under me and eats me before i can move a yard.

SO with that in mind, i got to thinking. can a worm who you agro in the worm-meter-sand, chase you to the meter-free sand? or does it stop at the edge of the worm-meter sand if it's angry at you? or do i need to rebuild up on rocks, or with rocks between me and the open desert?

You can test it with a thumper and a mk1 sandbike parked nearby

As for DD changes, they should add more nodes spread out. With a 45 minute respawn timer, that is too limited for the population with whatever their current dispersement is. Doesn’t need to be a shitload, 1 node per island would probably even work.

I would also randomize respawn - set it between 30 and 45 minutes. Clockwork respawns are too exploitable by farming loggers

I think there is a really narrow spot on the sand where the No tremor meter and tremor meter areas meet where the worm might be able to get you, but in theory you should be fine in the no tremor part of you’re not right on the edge

Yeah DD is just over run now. I can't even get titanium or stravidium anymore. Luckily I was able to build everything in Hagga Basin but now I can't get materials to make t6 gear anymore. They could have had rare spawns of t6 resources in Hagga in the radiation zone or northwestern Hagga. Could even have t6 resources in chests at the t5 stations and shipwrecks. Feels like funcom took the easy way out.

I'm enjoying the game, but the group I run with has been a bit slow so I expect by the time we get to "end game" it's going to be a cluster fuck of frustration. My crew is too old for this shit and will likely just say fuck it then go play something else.

Two guys I've been playing with haven't been on since Saturday. One hasn't even built an ornithopter yet, and the other is towards the end of aluminum phase and probably would be starting duraluminum the next time they get on. Neither have finished the Fremen main quest to unlock deathstills even.

Meanwhile I tore down the base we were using cause I needed the subfief for a DD base (the others are on the northern wall, and one for jasmium). I've got a medium spice processor going, and by the time they get on I'll likely have half the advanced crafting stations made. I decided to keep my own set of chests for everything duraluminum+ otherwise they'll just get bored after 4 more hours of this (originally I was saving all my old gear, but decided to destroy it all).

It's not the first time this has happened. They're just not the gamers they once were.

I think most people on this board are not the gamers they used to be.

You want to get rustled?

I haven’t gotten my copter yet, but I’m still ahead of the has-beens I’m playing with.

The biggest hurdle imo is getting to buggy. Once you get the buggy and a mk4 buggy cutter, getting aluminum for your ornithopter is pretty easy

I've got a couple of casuals playing with me, they just barely got to my first base in Western Vermillius. I just started my 2nd base in Jamal Eifrit Al-gharb this morning, and I'm still pre-aluminum, 45 hours in. I ran around and finished the main quest to get death stills yesterday, but haven't built one yet.

My frustration this morning though:

I died messing w/ bad guys near my new base (not used to their attack patterns / weapons / etc. yet), and these were my options:

I haven't been to the trading post in 5-6+ hours of game time (last time I was there, I then went on to do trials 5-8).

I thought, foolishly apparently, that the new base I setup (that I died next to) would be a respawn option, but it isn't unless you interact w/ the sub-fief to set it. Also, clicking these respawn options on the left, only centered the screen on the trading post, the western gap one wasn't centering on the ship. This was confusing because, in my poorly cropped screenshot, there are 2 western gap checkpoints, the one above, and the one at my first base.

I exited to the main menu, and when I re-entered I had all 4 options that should have been there to begin with. Had a bike on me, so respawned at the ship and recovered my body, which of course was no longer on my map.

Equal parts buggy and ignorance, but really confusing and frustrating.

Lesson learned though. Respawn beacons are cheap, make some and use them, and use the fief to set your base respawn location.

Still feels dumb that getting in/out of my buggy, spending a couple hours working on the base and stuff up there... didn't ever set a checkpoint.

That happened to me first time I got Pk'd in deep desert - I didnt realize your base wasn't an automatic respawn point, so I got stuck where I first zoned in and couldn't get to the taxi NPC to escape

Have to admit, the water thing is pissing me off. How am I fighting raiders, if there is no water plants or stations near them? If people are there, then water would be close by.

Death stills man. I make like 120k water an hour

They're getting close to being something I would spend money on. 50% PVE/PVP deep desert is a good step. Not quite the step with 100% PVE but like halfway there.

Now it's just the price drop that I'm waiting for. I'm still thinking 5+ months from now it'll be on sale for 20 bucks. If they can get to 75% PVE (or just have private servers not utilize some shared bullshit PVP Deep Desert) and like $30 I might jump in. I love the Dune IP, but not at current rates/PVP infiltration.

Honestly, and Cybsled Cybsled has mentioned it a few times, you'll get a good 80-100 hours out of it before hitting the PVP part. It's very much worth buying. Hell, even then, my server is pretty friendly. I rarely see other people in the Deep Desert, and when I do, I almost instantly hear over voice chat "you cool?" and then we go about not attacking each other.

This game is worth it even if you just did the current content and they never added anything else.

I know it's Funcom, but with the quick changes they made on PvE in the Deep Desert, I have a hard time believing they won't put more of an emphasis on PvE end game content. Give me more dungeons and shit!

It's funny, there's a post on Reddit this morning talking about how they went to the one lab in DD that's in the PVE area and it was challenging, randoms joined up, and it was a fucking blast. It's got tons of replies saying "that happened to me too!" Well, it happened to me, as well. I rolled up and saw someone parked outside so went in. Halfway through a 3rd showed up. It was still difficult as hell. It was by far the most challenging content in the game I've seen, and also the most satisfying.

Almost like you put in some hard PVE content and people will eat that shit up. Only downside is it sounds like all the labs are basically identical, and the other 2 in the PVP area means only 1 person gets loot (and since their UI sucks for identifying other people, you'll 100% get shot by anyone else in there with you even if they're friendly).
