Death stills man. I make like 120k water an hour
I am slowly learning the game. Just pissed me off to be in a large area that had no flowers on the ground despite the crashed ship with like 8 NPC's inside to kill. I spent to much time exploring and hoping to just find water inside the area. No real loss save for time.

As a general rule, you’ll find water in testing labs and sometimes in various NPC bases. Crashed starships and small bandit camps usually don’t have any

My midgame base was here. If you're looking for a good spot, it's amazing. Aluminum spawns directly north, iron south (small desert crossing), crystals are a bit of a drive to the east and then NE to the basin, a ton of carbon directly east, a small bandit camp that spawns 1 or 2 (for blood or bodies), flour literally right next to you, and those blue circles are (by memory) where I think the dew spots are. There's an abundance of them. Only problem is you can basically only fit 1 base there. But you could also build on that carbon island, or to the west on that island between the trade post. Or hell, I think you can build next to the trade post too.

There's also a T4 (I think?) bandit base or whatever you call them just to the north (not the one on the ledge) that you can grapple onto the level just below the top, go down into the stairs (the mobs on the top level won't use the stairs for some reason), and then you can kill just 2 mobs for an awesome chest.

LOL now the PVPers are reeeeeeing about the game and Funcom is going to release a statement soon, regarding all the DD changes.

JFC. These bozos should've just done PvP and PvE servers like everyone suggested.

I've been having fun playing hardcore style. There's no official mode I just delete my character if I die.

Sometimes I'll be able to go back and find my previous base and take it over, but often I either can't find it or someone else grabbed it.

My funniest death was being a fresh-across-the-gap newb and going into the rift to find a place to build. I was on the surface and started a little base and was driving my crappy bike around getting rocks when I got hit by a sniper round.

I boosted away and looked around with binoculars and couldn't find whatever shot at me. It was a big flat open area. So I bandaged up and kept on making stuff.

Needing metal I salvaged a wrecked truck, and as soon as I cut the final pieces and it all fell apart, I instantly died. There were 2 snipers INSIDE the wrecked truck haha.

BTW what are these places on the rift surface? Barracks 69 etc? Faction fighting places? There was a sniper in a floaty tower above me but it never shot at me.

Rift was a Harkonen/Attreides battlefield, so there are a bunch of ruins. I presume Harkonen won because theirs is the only active base in the rift

When I died to those buried-in-a-truck snipers, I noticed they were Harkies. So do both sides shoot at you out there? I'm really bad against snipers.

Think I might be about done, at 113 hours. Playing as a solo it's just become way too grindy.

At this point, I'm working on the advanced stations and in order to make them, it's spending a ton of time gathering corpses, making more aluminum/duraluminum so I can add more power, make a full load of spice to process, make a full load of titanium, and then spend the next 5 hours processing everything. I spent all that time doing it to make the advanced weapon station and the unique rapier, and I'm kind of sitting here wondering what the fuck for? I don't know that I want to spend the next week just running around doing that same loop 50 times to make a set of T6 armor.

Worse is that I still can't decide if I like heavy or light armor better, so do I waste 80 plastinium for the one unique heavy chest piece I've got, or go with the light armor I've got half a set of blueprints for?

I don't know much about the game but I thought they said in the last movie they're basing all of this stuff on that the shields would always draw a worm. Is that the drawback on using them within the game?

Worms are only around in the open desert portions (basically the sandy portions).

But yeah, that shit 100% draws worms. Especially in deep desert, you've got to turn your shield off and not use your flying belt things or worms will be on your ass fast.

Fun weekend.

Made my first ornithopter. Built a garage for it. Forgot to put the pentashield on the roof. Logged in several hours later to a brand new ornithopter beat to shit.

Made a rad suit and wandered over to Sheol not knowing exactly how radiation works. Abruptly died, had to travel 4500m from my base via bike to recover said first ornithopter.
