They sort of address that with new PVE in this patch - besides dungeons, there are a couple new "outdoor" areas you visit. You can't fly there, but you can bring a sandbike.

They've mentioned that in the next big patch, they plan to address PVP and part of that will be creating no fly zones so that all DD PVP isn't just air combat or air ganking ground.

They just announced they plan to merge some low pop servers early next month. They’ll post the list in the next week or so. Their post mentioned if the server is merged, it will auto store vehicles and bases if the player takes no action, although I’d probably do it manually if you play to avoid bugs.

This weekend will also have double mining resource yield (ore, not spice) and double specialization xp and faction rep. People will get 35 mission credits also if they are below the 35 cap.

To further emphasize the PvE-first approach, we are making the following changes in Patch 1.3.20.0:
  • All PvP zones in Hagga Basin will be disabled across all official Worlds.
  • All official Worlds will have separate Deep Desert instances you can choose from:
  • A PvE instance for pure survival and exploration experience with no player combat. There is no PvP in this instance across any of the rows, including Shipwrecks.
  • A PvP instance with the classic high-stakes environment and open-world conflict across rows B through I. To make sure the rewards match the risk, the yield from mining and spice harvesting will be multiplied by 2.5 in PvP areas.
---
We are thrilled to announce that Self-Hosting is coming to Dune: Awakening. Whether you want to host a private server for friends or foster a community with unique rules,

Color me impressed, devs that actually listened and used the data they have to make a rather radical shift in their vision going from PvP to PvE.

Yeah, and I was prepared and in a way looking forward to starting over once self-hosting was introduced... but looks like I'll be able to just transfer.

That seems like a good compromise on DD - the 2.5x yield will make it much more efficient to get spice in the PVP instance of DD, so long as you can avoid or fight off would-be gankers

I am still hoping they develop PvP a bit more, though. Make it a bit more structured, make land vehicles like rocket buggy viable, and so on

If you run your own server does that mean the DD is just for you also?

Dunno yet, we'll have to see what running our own server even entails. Setting up a permanent outpost in the DD if you could kill the weekly reset since it's just yours would be fun to mess with.

Latest update is out. Self-hosted servers to come at a later date.

Highlights

  • Introduced PvE and PvP Deep Desert instances! All official Worlds will now have at least one PvE and PvP instance of the Deep Desert.
  • Hagga Basin is now fully PvE across the entire map, including the Shipwrecks.
  • Made multiple changes to streaming distances to improve performance and memory usage.
  • Altered drop rate of gear in Overland Imperial Testing Stations to not heavily favor specific weapons such as The Ancient Way and Pyrockets, to make the loot drops more fair.
  • Reduced the drop rate of less desirable items in Overland Imperial Testing Stations such as Stillsuit pieces to prioritize combat related items.
  • The amount of health bosses have when fought by groups has been lowered in the Overland Imperial Testing Stations.
  • The health of bosses and the number of adds that spawn during boss encounters when fought by groups have been lowered in the Overland Imperial Testing Stations.

They slipped in a pretty big DPS nerf. If you had center of mass and used attractor field, it did really good damage. Now it is nerfed so you're doing like less than half the damage you did before.

Like I could clear lightning dungeon on rank 19 in about 7.5 minutes, now it takes me about 9ish on average

I havent played since I sucked up my based a few months back, and had only been logging on the maintain power and taxes before that since like october.

Gonna get back into this - Are Overland Imperial Stations the new PVE dungeons I heard about? So my small PVE group could come back and do those, landraas and new PVE DD?

That sounds like a great fun friday night

Ya. They added 5 overland imperial stations that drop graded loot depending on what the difficulty level is. Graded loot is grades 0 (what drops in DD right now) up to grade 5. It is all MK6 tier, but graded stuff is basically mythic+ armor, so it has more armor rating and more damage rating. They also drop augment blueprints - think like gems you can socket into gear. The stats on the augments is RNG within a range. If you have high crafting specialization (they added specialization skill tracks that you use lansgrad to level), then you have a better chance at getting better augment rolls. Crafting tree also unlocks the ability to unlock augment slots on weapons/armor (max out at 3 weapon slots, 2 armor slots).

When you enter the dungeon, you interact with a doorway and select the difficulty level. It tells you the dungeon modifiers and the drop drop rates. You can do the first few difficulty levels at your choice, but you have to complete the previous difficulty to unlock the next one. One word of warning: the HP and adds scale with how many people are running the dungeon. This patch nerfed the scaling a bit because it was stupidly hard in a group at higher difficulties. Also if you run the radiation dungeon (bottom left most dungeon), bring a rad suit and some rad pills because you'll be fighting in the rad suit for pretty much the entire dungeon. For poison (left dungeon to the NE of the radiation one), bring a compactor to dispel poison clouds or a fire shotgun like shellburster (the fire burns away poison clouds). Fire resist gear like Syndicate armor/Forge armor is good for lightning and fire dungeons (lightning counts as fire damage). Dark dungeon make sure you have your personal light or you're going to have a bad time lol

Lansgrad overhaul is every day you get 5 specialization credits (caps out at 35 if you don't spend them). You can take quests aligned with a specific specialization tree and the resulting XP will go to that tree. You also select a square on the lansgrad board you want the lansgrad credit to apply to. You then run whatever the mission is to complete the lansgrad quest - the missions vary but most either fall into fighting shit or finding shit or racing. You can run as many lansgrad missions as you want if you want to capture a square, but you only get specialization xp so long as you have credits in reserve.

My favorite thing is the PvP cope claiming this died because they moved away from PvP, when its very obvious people stopped playing after Hagga Basin PvE was done and players were forced into unbalanced, grief PvP in the DD.

Yeah, sure, I'd imagine this game would have 15,000 players a night if it kept forced PvP. If it had a legitimate PvE end-game loop from the get go this probably retains double or triple that.

I stopped playing because they wanted me (pve player) to be a cat toy for pvp players. Which is gay

Ya the armor is kinda meh, although maybe it might dye cool. Building set is okish

Main takeaway I got from their dev broadcast is there is this patch will be a bit light content wise because they have something bigger coming they can't talk about yet (makes me wonder if it is a 3rd movie tie-in)
