I got allllllllllllmost everything working. There's one pod that was repeatedly trying to grab its image from the funcom registry. I can't even resolve the ip to it so no idea how that is supposed to work. I assume it involves the key you generate on their site.

Anyway I fought with it for many many hours and eventually realized the image comes with the steam stuff. I looked in the tar and the versions are slightly different so I patched the running pod with the version of the one that comes with steam (and was sitting in containerd).

That got it in a state where it would start, but as soon as it did it started trying to grab survival (hoggerz basin) and the big world map and such and all failed in the same way, and I don't have the tars for those.

I wonder if my days of fumbling around caused someone at funcom to cut me off because of all the bad requests?

meStevo meStevo how does your server get the images for hagbasin, deep desert etc? Does it come down from registry.funcom.com? I'm still baffled at how that can work when the address doesn't even resolve.

I dunno, I haven't had to hack at much. I'm using the default hyper-v implementation, allocated 35gb total, with Hagga bumped up to 16 itself. When there are updates I stop everything and run a command from the battlegroup bat file that runs everything to backup the db, then another one to update, and then start it all back up - about the limits of my expertise on it. Otherwise have been using Claude as I was troubleshooting stuff, learned how to see the resources free in the VM and whatnot. Hagga by default was underallocated and would run out of resources and start a ton of writing to disk causing lag, so had to troubleshoot that a lot.

I finally gave up and blasted arch and put shitty ubuntu on my server just to try it, and it "just works".

No idea why arch is so bad at this stuff, they are both systemd style linux so should be similar, but damn I had so much trouble with kubectl and k3s and such.

Now that it is running I had a look at the inis... you really can't change much.

I'm trying a longshot now, going to see if I can open up the pak files for placeables using the conan devkit :emoji_laughing: Want to get thespice refiners more efficient.

Yeah my settings a pretty vanilla - 2x gathering, no storms (might turn that on at some point) and no durability loss but think that last one is broken.

I'd increase fief and build limits but that requires a client and server config change, so will deal with that if it ever becomes relevant. A couple of us have played with it off and on and are still just on iron / steel still. Been busy w/ other stuff for a couple weeks once I got the rampant disk writing to stop from hagga's resource exhaustion, because that was impacting my VRising and Satisfactory servers that are running too.

The pak tool that comes with conan won't work on the dune one so I kinda gave up on that.

Spent several hours trying to have friends outside my lan join with no luck. That discord has 2 different "fixes" for having a server behind a nat but I couldn't get either of them to work. In both cases they seemed to both not-fix the problem and also make it so I couldn't join either.

It runs good so far though. I did all the ass-end of hoggerzpoggerz basin stuff without a hitch. Even ran into those assholes with the ambush & burning bike that crashes so often on live servers and managed to run their asses over.

I see alot of talk in there about quests going haywire, but it seems like most of it is caused by people cheating. I'll probably leave everything alone till I get to the spice grind. I want to do something about that and the refineries seemed the best way, but if I can't do that I'll think of something else.

BTW I saved my progress via the database backup thing and when I inevitably blew my world up trying to fix something, I was able to dump it back into the new world.

It did crash my client, but after that everything just kind of worked.

Still can't get friends in though.

I left it on while sleeping. I've got the standard 12 gig allocd to hagga, and I started getting those little connexion icons in green and yellow.

It didn't really feel laggy but I wasn't fighting or anything. Then I got zapped by the rozzers. I was on a bike so I figured no big deal as soon as the bubble lets go of me I'll just drive away. The bubble never let go though haha. I'm guessing that was a lag moment.

The cops that jumped down weren't lagged at all though and happily shot me full of holes while I sat helpless unable to move on my bike.

I bumped the ram to 15 jigglybytes. Maybe that will help?

For Hagga specifically right? Yeah that's the fix there. Think I'm at 16 and it hasn't happened again.
