No its a game from like last year or two. But those things shown are player built bases which can be as basic as a box to as intricate as you allow time to make it so. But the game itself looks and runs really well. Its an MMO, so it will never have the graphical fidelity of a modern single player game.

Yes. Depends on how many staking units you have deployed, but it’s around 5000 base structure pieces. Doors, lights, decorations, etc all have their own limits as well

Patch came out today. Besides some QoL stuff and rebalancing of combat/dungeons/crafting/etc (some base things no longer take spice to make, like medium chem refiners), it is the finale of the chapter 1 story. If you enjoyed the story in the game thus far, you'll probably really like it. They do some real deep dive Dune lore in it and a couple new characters from the stories that haven't shown up yet make their appearance.

So they added single player. What is it a year or so later? That should help the game out some, and bring back some of the player base. Not sure what took them so long. This game will go down in history of what not to do. Every game of this type should 100% launch with single player and private servers from the get go. The worst part is that I bet the people who made these horrible early decisions are still on the payroll.

The Landsraad stuff could have been 100% pve, with pve raids where clan/houses completed instanced pve raids for points. Or they could have done wow pvp battle grounds where different houses queue up and fight each other for season rewards.

The endgame was just rushed is all - they made a sandbox PvP zone for the endgame hoping players would make the content and lansgrad was a bunch of “turn in 1000 widgets or kill 2000 raiders” crap

It’s much better now than launch, but they still need better repeatable content. I have 1000 hours in the game. Structured PvP would go a long way

I just really love the feel and the world they've created for this game... But it's stunning its taken them this long to make these changes. So damn slow.

They really need this polar cap content later this year to be good. Structured PvP, better PvE end-game, and they need to hit on those survival elements again. No ornithopters in the new area would be great.

They mentioned in live stream that Ice caps will bring back the survival element of early game, so easiest way to read into that is all our current stuff is designed for hot desert environments and won't work/won't be optimal in ice cap area. So I strongly suspect we will need ice cap specific vehicles and cold resist gear. We also know from UI elements that bases there will need to be heated.

Is this game worth $24.99 for a single player play through? Never seen the Dune movies except the one with Sting but I don't remember it.

If you like survival crafting games and remotely like Dune, it's 100% worth it at $25.

Personally I've got 360 hours in it and have been in maintenance mode for the last several months, and am looking forward to starting over once I can get it back on my gaming server (need more RAM or to replace my lesser server that died so I can move it's RAM over). I enjoyed the progression / journey a lot, and did it largely solo.

At half price, yes. The game is styled after the newer movies in terms of appearance (Legendary Pictures is involved). Like mestevo said, if you like survival-crafting you'll like this. If you played Conan Exiles, a lot of the systems may feel familiar (Funcom also makes that), but the Sci-fi setting lets you do more in terms of vehicles and mobility.

Story/game is accessible whether you're a Dune fan or not. Main story is pretty good once you get past the Freman trials (even better if you have familiarity with Dune lore - they do a lot of deep dives). Outside the story there is a lot of content in Hagga Basin (the starting area/your main base area) and they added some overland map (you can access this once you unlock your flying vehicles) content as well.

Single player is definitely fun for a play through. I like the story that's being told. Hoping it goes somewhere with the ending of the last chapter.

Also intrigued with what they have planned for the polar ice cap expansion in a few months. They have to recreate that magic of hagga basin as a newb because that was some of the funnest times in gaming I had in awhille. I dont think they will be able to capture those moments again though.
