I thought Dune Messiah and Children of Dune (the books) sucked and are dry as hell so it'll be interesting to see what material he uses.

It would be insane to someday get a God Emperor of Dune movie but I have no hope for that

i thought the next movie Denis V was making was either Rendevous With Rama (YES!) or Nuclear War: A Story - good book but not sure how its gonna turn into a movie. I think he's said Dune Messiah is a few years away to let Timmy and Zendaya age up a bit.
Also Cleopatra.

it'll be fascinating, dune messiah and children of dune are imo the weakest books in the OG series so i don't know how you make it interesting on screen but i think if anyone could it would be DenisV

now i'd love for someone else to pick up the baton and make a batshit insane God Emperor of Dune but I doubt that happens :(

Denny V movies are always phenomenal just from a cinematography standpoint. I watch them for that reason alone, really. Anything else is just a bonus.

Not that the first 3 books are particularly grounded, but the the last 3 books are some wild shit that I think would be pretty hard to put on screen.

does zendaya coleman intend to act in this one?

they can't possibly be paying her to just scowl and visually shovel disdain on everything around her right?....right?

They’ll make more movies after 3 but they’ll just make up the story at that point. And sort of like game of thrones, i’m sure it will start sucking major ass once they move away from source material.

Are Heretics and Chapterhouse worth reading or can one stop with Book 4? I hate unresolved cliffhangers and I know Book 6 ends that way. I've never gone past Book 1 before and 2026 might be the year. Not looking to make more work for myself than I need to. Mainly asking if 5 and 6 really add anything to 4, or if they're a new storyline while 4 is a culmination. If Book 7 existed then of course I'd go all the way to the end, but as it is I get the impression 4 is the best stopping point.

Also, I wonder what Book 7 would have been called. I noticed that there's a word-count pyramid with the Dune book titles:

Dune
Dune: Messiah (2)
Children of Dune (3)
God-Emperor of Dune (4)
Heretics of Dune (3)
Chapterhouse: Dune (2)

So in theory the 7th book would have been a one-word title to finish the pyramid. However all the titles have to have "Dune" in them, so... maybe "Dunes"? I think the movie Aliens was a thing right around when Herbert was working on Book 7.

Have you tried... the book thread? It's the topic of the thread.
