I guess that card was fan made. Here is the blurb I read though. Same people making the DCC tabletop RPG.

Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable, the deckbuilding game based on the property, will be a solo or 2-player co-op card-crafting game set in the World Dungeon. Gameplay will be based on John D. Clair’s Unstoppable system (see “Renegade’s ‘Unstoppable’”), which allows players to upgrade abilities and equipment during play using the card-crafting mechanic. Players will battle against bosses, while gearing and leveling up their hero.

More information will be provided via a Pre-Launch Party on February 2, 2026, with the crowdfunding campaign launching on April 14

All those card characters were great.

Eh I didn't really like the Pokémon battles. It felt like a huge departure from the classic D&D dungeon crawler environment. Book 6 seemed like a big step down from 5 to me. I still like the overall plot and am looking forward to his take on clan wars PVP lol.

This book has been on my radar because of people here talking about it. Started book one, made it like 10 chapters in at work. Laughing my ass off, very entertained.
Alright I'm caught up. Really enjoyed pretty much all of it. I'll say that #4 kind dragged toward the end, and like the first 1/3 of #6 was a slog.

Mini review of why I didn't like what I didn't like with moderate spoilers:

#4 just didn't have enough variety. It felt like they were perceptually stuck in the same situation as the story advanced, enough with new bosses and problems being introduced. It was kinda a stark change from the mini arcs of all the previous books in a way that didn't work as well as 5.

As for 6, I really didn't like the way the belittled the council of warlords and made them all seem like completely retarded incompetents. it did a LOT to harm the believe that the MCs were in danger. Honestly, I expect them to clean house against these retards next floor. It was extremely counter-productive to the story in my view. Having juicebox running circles around them just felt extremely stupid to me. The book got a lot better when it turned its eyes away from that nonsense.

I hated the pokemon card battles, but the rest of the book was good.

In book 7 I also didn't like the massed battlefield combat, but once again, the rest of the book was very good. I hope they get back to regular fighting for the rest of the series.

Interesting that we now know what's waiting in the last 3 levels. 18 looks like it's just going to be sculependra. 17 is a death maze that will likely already be defeated since so many people had to run through it from level 18. And 16 is just a large room with a mirror (and whatever offworlders made it there from 18).

It also looks like we're going to get some action on the surface from the former crawlers.

Oh and also I totally called it as soon as we learned about the flower that katia was going to pick pregnancy. I just thought it was going to be carl's baby.

1-3 were great. 4-5 were okay. 6 fell off for me. I'm mostly through 7 and it's not grabbing me either. The clan wars fell really flat. The battles aren't interesting and how they killed off the other warlords wasn't very good. I'm not done yet, but the Agatha mystery box is getting old too. I'm not sure I'll buy a book 8 if there is one.

I think the series was said to be 10 books at some point. Whether that goes up or down remains to be seen. I am invested enough in Carl and Donut to see it through to the end.
