If I was the sole voice of a smash hit series, I might do something similar. Dude is beyond impressive.
I still can't believe it, pretty sure he is the first dude to actually sound like a woman. Marsters does a great job with Dresden but you always know it is him doing all the females. Even my all time favorite Stephen Pacey can't do anything close to what Hays is doing.

yeah, I'm still in awe that he does all the voices, I assumed it was a female doing donut after listening to all the books, until that clip of him was posted here.

I recently listened to Neuromancer, and the dude's voice for females just came off like a retarded tranny.

so am I the only one actually reading these books?
This is not a knock or a put down , but a genuine question. I cannot get into audio books. I've tried multiple times. I had a 3 hour commute for work and that would be the perfect time but I always just listened to old Howard Stern bootleg shows or music.

I rotate between reading and audio. I’ve read these.

I own all the hardcovers and read the series before I tried the audio books. I will read book 8 when it arrives in May, and then audiobook it after that.

For these books in particular, because it's Jeff Hayes, it's less like an audiobook and more like a TV show and/or movie. It's not just some dude reading a book, it's a dude getting into (ALL of them!) character and acting it out in audio form. Fucking A+ 11/10 content.

A few books in some chick named annie ellicot joined him and does the new female voices. My guess is he only had a couple he was capable of pulling off? I dunno or maybe annie is cute and he's smashing. I don't even notice the difference.

Yeah I've never heard an audio book like this. It comes off more like a radio play than a guy reading a book. I'm super impressed if he's doing all the female voices. Seems impossible. I know there are VIP guest voices. Critical drinker is unmistakable.

Apparently she only does voices on Soundbooth Theater, the Audible voices are all Jeff.

The only exception I can find is she may have done Tsarina Signet in the audible version, but there’s no mention of it (like for critical faggot in book 3) so I’m not certain.

I might be thinking more of Everbody Loves Large Chests, which also started with Just Jeff and annie showed up a few books in and started doing a lot of female voices. But she was def signet which puts her in at least 2 books, and I still think I read somewhere she did a few others. She's only credited on audible for book 2.

I have only ever read books. Except for one book I listened to while driving to San Diego and back, I have never listened to an audio book. I would like to listen to DCC, but I read wherever I can, like the shitter at work, and that's not conducive to audio books. I also have a hard time concentrating on audio (that isn't music) when I'm doing stuff around the house, so I'd rather just plop my ass down and open my Kindle instead.

I had no idea there was audio for Everybody Loves Large Chests, is it the sanitized Kindle version or the super raunchy original? I can't imagine someone respectable narrating the original version of that with all the tentacles in vaginas and such.

What kind of stuff did they clean up? Give me something specific and I'll tell you if it's still in the audible version. I'm through book 5

It has been years since I read any of those, but the first several books had him literally shoving tentacles into their vajayjays so that they orgasmed over and over and didn't have the energy to bother him anymore. Pretty sure it was fairly graphic too, but again, it has been a while. Also, iirc, one demon had a dick (even though female) and constantly fucked the other demon.

Fuck, lemme go find the actual documents I downloaded to Calibre.

Well, found this at least: "The fiend then gave up on worrying about the silly box and resumed pounding the face-down-ass-up succubus’s tight asshole with renewed vigour."

If I found that quickly, I'm fairly certain there are a hundred others throughout the books.

In audible, he didn't fuck anyone until like book 3, and then it was only for practice, he has no sex drive.

To make the demons stop bothering him, he gave them permission to fight. Then later to fuck anytime they didn't have a task. The big demoness does still have a dick and fucks the other one in the ass. Because fiends love raping. Especially the females. The female fiends have bigger dicks than male fiends. Fucking the other one in the ass is a sign that she likes her. If she didn't, she'd only fuck her in the cunt or face. He does eat the first demon a lot and she starts getting turned on by pain and violence.

Fizzy still gets raped too (in that scene I think you were talking about). If they were going to clean anything up, I would think it would be that. I like her character but it's painful to remember she's damaged because she had the shit raped out of her.

I googled it and I can't get a straight answer on a part that was removed so I can say yes or no it was there. All I see is that it was toned down and reworded for kindle. It actually sounds like the kindle version flows better. Since audible is owned by amazon, I would expect it was toned down for them too. Either way, still pretty dark and more sex than I expected, but it's a small part of the overall story.

I read all the books first, but then kept seeing everyone loving the audiobooks online. Had a free credit on Audible and grabbed the first book. Was instantly hooked. I have only listened to a couple of other audiobooks, and those where Dresden files. I will reread those books before I would listen to the audio again. Even though I think Marsters does a great job. The DDC books are just on another level.

Stick with it. It makes more sense the further in you get.

I've been on book 3 for like 1.5 months. Almost done - feels like a bit of a slog compared to the first two, and I'm not sure it's just the confusing nature of the level (at least, to me). Perhaps it's just the setting itself I personally find sort of uninteresting.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. The slog book for me was book 7. I don't particularly give a shit for large scale battle but it was still enjoyable.

Book 3 was a combination of things I enjoy outside of the book. It reminded me of M.C. Escher art mixed with a Daedalus maze and the oldest house from Control.

I liked the iron tangle better on the second time through. I just didn’t pay attention to the layout at all and just focused on the characters. There’s some great moments in that book.

The ebook I have has that map in it. I'm actually fine with the levels not making sense. I'm still trying to decide why
Carl put on that 'death ring' that the ex cop gave him. That seems so very out of character for him
.

Also what is the protocol here for potential spoilers in the older books?
