That's really cool , I wasn't doing anything yesterday and it would have been worth the hour + drive. Shame.

I wonder if he's going to turn into George RR Martin
Probably not because as I understand it GRRM hasn't written anything else since GoT. Matt has other stories he wants to tell. In fact, DCC came about because he got writers block on the story he really wanted to write and had to take a break.

I think he'll be more like a Stephen King and pump out like 60-70 books at least in his career.

Doubt it.

A Song of Ice and Fire and related works:

Dungeon Crawler Carl

  1. Dungeon Crawler Carl (2020)
  2. Carl's Doomsday Scenario (2021)
  3. The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook (2021)
  4. The Gate of the Feral Gods (2021)
  5. The Butcher's Masquerade (2022)
  6. The Eye of the Bedlam Bride (2023)
  7. This Inevitable Ruin (2024)
  8. A Parade of Horribles (2026)

Not sure when DCC will finish but there's no reason to not expect Matt to produce a DCC book every year or two until it's done.

Dude, I had no idea that he rattled off 3 fucking novels in the same year. His pace is definitely slowing, but it is because he has to go back and make sure he doesn't contradict all of the crazy shit he already put to page. I think that his Patreon is probably our savior, as it holds him to account to get new chapters out and in front of them in that LitRPG style that started this whole thing.

The popularity explosion is most likely part of it too. TV deals along with side projects, like the Florin graphic novel, and all his appearances have to be taking a bunch of time too.

A couple books with custom dust jackets from Lit Escalates and "fancy" signed bookplates arrived a few days ago:

Yep.

And I might be more patient than most with book releases, but I wouldn't mind him releasing the rest of the primary books at a consistent ~3yr pace while dumping a bunch of adjacent media out.

Matt's said that he has a plan to end DCC. I can't remember if it's 2 more books, or 1 book in 2 parts, but the end is planned. I try not to listen to the spoilers out there, people relaying what they're getting from Patreon. I'm grateful he's getting that $$, but I don't want to read it one chapter at a time.
