I got Night Reign along with the wife to play together, as we did a co-op play of ER together (the base game anyhow) thinking this was going to be casual friendly and more like the Dragon Age MP. Combat is not an issue, but the frantic run around and ignore most of the content is completely opposite of the ER experience we liked. And PUGs are all fucking cancer. "Oh I am level 2 lets go to the castle immediately" or dropping out after their fucking story mission. Had one guy drop at the fucking start of a day two boss and so many fucked runs because someone wanders off and dies to the fire getting stuck in a random tunnel.

They need a casual mode with relaxed timers but vastly thinned rewards. ER got the numbers it did through wide appeal. This is just MMO appeal to the top players shit going on right now and a lot of people who came from ER are going to be really disappointed in this.

Yea try the MP mod for ER. NR is definitely a certain type of game that will not appeal to most people looking for the typical fromsoft experience.

You really have to learn the meta and learn how to zoom.

Or be a God gamer and solo every boss with 3x HP and a white weapon like Ambiturner Ambiturner

Totally agreed. Nightreign didn't have any of what made ER great, and felt more like ER: The Arcade Game, a totally different game with some asset-reuse. As a mega Fromsoft dude, I gave it a couple days and gave up.

The co-op you did of ER with the wife, was that a "pass the controller back and forth" / hang out while playing situation, or did you actually multiplayer your way through it? Wondering how feasible it is to do a co-play of that game where you're consistently playing together without much fuss. I presume it requires two TVs and two systems, or two computers/monitors. But I also I thought it only let you do that for dungeons/bosses.

I memba split screen.

We played on side by side consoles. We have three tvs in our bedroom, which we nicknamed the reality deprivation chamber.

No idea if there's anything like it for consoles, but on PC there's the Seamless Co-op mod that allows you to co-op the entire game and not just bosses. It's "offline" so you don't get any "try finger but hole" signs or other online features but it's worked well the little bit I've messed around with it.

I hope we're getting the next entry to a souls-like series from them, whether it is another Dark Souls / Elden Ring, or even a brand new IP that follows a similar playstyle.

ER was just SOOOOO good, can't wait to see what they come out with next.

Looking at their release years

Demon souls 2009 > Dark Souls 2011- 2 years
Dark Souls 2011 > Dark Souls 2 2014 - 3 years
Dark Souls 2 2014 > Bloodborne 2015 - 1 year (though expect that was due to Sonys help with dev teams)
Bloodborne 2015 > Dark Souls 3 2016 - 1 year (2 years between DS2 - DS3)
Dark Souls 3 2016 > Sekiro 2019 - 3 years
Sekiro 2019 > Elden Ring 2022 - 3 years

So that's not counting DLCs, or non Dark souls ish single player games. A 2026 release of a full mainline DS type game / sequel is well within their usual time schedule. EDIT: Well it should be this year, but doubt it. Wouldn't be surprised if Jeff gets to announce a new FromSoft title at the game awards though coming early 2026.

Also having just taken the time to look up that list I was kind of amazed. As time goes on, it's easy to forget just how often they actually release games. Create a genre, which becomes very popular and tons of developers try to mimic it, but fall short of even the "worst" of what FromSoft comes out with every 2-3 years.

I want BB remaster, what it'll be is probably a ds2 remaster.

Hopefully it's a new IP all together though.

I'd be ok with a Dark Souls 4 that has some improvements from Elden Ring while maintaining the "closed" style world of the DS franchise.

If they gave it true co-op start-to-finish, I'd die happy.

Miyazaki has stated multiple times the dark souls series is done.

Also they set the bar super fucking high with elden ring. Not even sure where they can go from that.

We need Elden Ring 2 because that story is super fucked and we need a ton more context.

Scholars isn't a remaster though. It was an enhanced edition that came out basically a year after the dlc trilogy to package all the DLC and add a couple new things.

Don't get me wrong, I hope I'm wrong. But I feel it's a good chance.

Maybe even just release it as Dark Souls Trilogy edition even and add ds3 to the mix.

Its probably another Armored Core game since it fits the "F" code and its been two years since the AC6. They revived it after like...10 years, and it was a commercial success, so it makes sense.

They've stated they weren't planning on any more Elden Ring content either after NightReign/Erdtree.

It could be another Dark Souls if they decided they want to go back and use some new ideas. Miyazaki said the trilogy wrapped up the story, and DS3+DLCs also back that up, but they could introduce a whole new trilogy story within the same concept. The ending of DS3's DLC had them creating a whole new world with a painting, so they could use that. Adding a "painting" type of idea to the title and kicking off a new trilogy with it might work.

I figure its probably another Armored Core game, but I'd be blessed if it was something else. I didn't really like AC6 and didn't finish it. I'm not interested in multiplayer Souls either, so hopefully they have something good for us.

Miyazaki has said he would like too go back and kind of "finish" up the Story for DS, the start mainly is what it sounded like, as we already know what the ending is, Thanks Ringed City.

Something with Armored Core seems more likely though , just cause of the past AC releases.

Sony owns the BB IP, and I'm pretty sure Sony wants to make another BB.. but not with FROM.

Anyone know if Bluepoint is up too anything? I know they were working on that lame ass live service GoW but haven't heard anything sense that got canned.

Yeah new Bloodborne would be amazing but I'll settle for anything single player and non-AC. I did enjoy the earlier Armored Core games, but I actually would still choose Kings Field before AC at this point; I'm a FromSoft addict for sure.
