Elden Ring

If anything, the fact Elden Ring does not have a straight forward narrative, but is a fleshed out world that has a lot of lore and history, make it more likely that the story they will choose to tell will be good. They are given a setting and can tell anything that they feel would work well for a movie, instead of having to shoehorn an existing story into a movie format. They "just" need to resist the temptation to have every popular npc and places crammed into it and instead be disciplined with the scope.

Gotta take the massive world lore and just tell a good story within.

Maybe our problem on this forum is we know too much lore and can't process a movie that doesn't touch on every bit of it.

Assuming the main protagonist of this film is a tarnished. What do you think will be an interesting motivation for Joe Tarnished to become Elden Lord? What kind of backstory would they have? What puts them on the path of grace?

This is entirely too much faith in Hollywood. This Hollywood hasn't existed for decades.

Well if the movie is maybe about the shattering, wouldn't there not be tarnished? I thought they came about after the elden ring was broken?

He wouldn’t necessarily need one. He could be a Yojimbo or Mad Max, Man with No Name. Plenty of examples exist of this archetype. But I think it is more likely we get a prequel store story like others have said.

In any remote non gay way. About the only way I see this working is if they leave out a lot of the more out there aspects of the lore and have a more grounded GOT world.

Modern hollywood would see Malenia be a closeted lesbian and some cringe sex scene with Finley.

I don't think he has the balls to do it, but what if it was the last tarnished to even get close to Lordship? Like, we could have him kill a few of Marika's other children that were never named in game, and then the end of the movie is our protagonist getting slain by Morgott at the entrance. The post credits is the the spark of Grace hitting the ER game tarnished with the same opening lines and then fade to black.

Could be from houra loux perspective. He's the OG tarnished who becomes the first elden lord. Good way to set up the back story leading up to the shattering. I just wonder how they are going to factor in the cosmic entities that are pulling the strings.

I believe Vyke got the closest, and a movie about him could be completely epic. He didn't get slain by Morgott but refused to sacrifice his maiden and embraced the 3 fingers so he could burn the tree himself, then went bonkers. I love the flame of frenzy/three fingers storyline!

I watched Elden Ring lore/plot in 14 min, and its like WTF.

Not bashing, as all “things” ep high or dark fantasy lean and borrow from many tropes.

But it is a nice foundation and it just kinda has a bunch of random cool sounding event-charachters for back lore.

Started with everyone talking about the Dungeater - read the wiki and still dont really get it….

I may just be- old man, too lazy to get it

Yeah I have never played the game - so I was just kinda like jumping into things randomly...

Not trying to hate on it.. it just seems a little interesting and then looking into it was again a fun concept...

Seems like he found a way to mess with bodies that effectively kept their souls from departing properly, but also not allowing them to haunt or return, just really jacking up the entire cycle.

Also I do not know about the whole world's "state" as it seems like the entire world already is in a "between" state of life and death- or complete mortality and spirit world per say...but again I could be getting that wrong...

One last thing, I do not know the lore...but visually, the dude with the lion spirit like on his shoulder or whatever... really cool visual

It's literally called the land in between. The setting is basically a purgatory like world until you get sent off properly. But then the timeline got fucked up and everyone is stuck there while a few demigods try and become the one true God.
