That's exactly my point though. in your example the MMO community would literally explode with whines of bla bla required grind, bla bla. Any new addition to an existing game, or step away from the standard of existing games is entirely viewed as negative by the majority. Because people even when bored dont realize why they're bored and that some challenge would help the game.
So since these games arent a charity, you need a company willing to put making the better before the bottom line. Which company would do that? Certainly not EA or NCSoft, nor Blizzard or SOE. They're too big for that
I want a game with a balanced risk vs reward ratio - not EQ'99 and not WoW'12. I just dont see it being made. And I very much doubt this discussion, although interesting, has any place in this thread. Because even the small bits we know about EQN (F2P, console title) spell out that it isnt going to be that game we theorize about here.
