I'm all about making a PVE game that doesn't give a damn about PVP and just let's it sit there unbalanced or not.
That's all Eq threads. People being nostalgic about their younger days. It's like when people reminisce about their younger days being broke and living off Raman with 2 other buddies in a 1 bedroom apartment.I read through the last few pages and I really hope some of you are just trolling. People can't possible believe half of the shit will be in game much less a good idea.
Agreed. I would even go as far to say that even if pvp is unbalanced, as long as its open world, people will find a way to make it work. Those with better gear or a more powerful class can't do shit if they are outnumbered by enough. To be completely honest, does that not add more realism. A battlefield would have those who could win most or all 1v1's and those would be the players who would get surrounded and killed. "Balanced" pvp is for even numbered battleground (lame), and FPS games.I'm all about making a PVE game that doesn't give a damn about PVP and just let's it sit there unbalanced or not.
i agree with you 100%. i could give two fucks about PvP, because in every single instance it just becomes about griefing others and serves no real purpose in the game. like draegan said, if they just have PvP in the PvE game and just leave it alone, unbalanced and imperfect and people want to play the game like that anyway without crying like a baby, then i'm fine with that. i guess someone may be able to talk me into a PvP game if it ever truly mattered in a game (like controlling resources, territory, cities, etc....) beyond just a battle ground or to receive valor points, but in an EQ game, all i'm really interested in is the PvE.Guess you missed the "have different skills for PVP" part. Personally, I think PVP is a waste in class based MMOs. It's inherently unbalanced, and good PVP requires just that...balance. You want good PVP, go play a FPS or MOBA and quit ruining MMOs.
see, this is where you come off sounding like a fucking retard. people reminisce about their high school or college years because those were great times and you have mostly all fond memories and zero responsibilities. that's why most of the people here enjoy reminiscing about EQ, because those were good times. no one really wants to reminisce about WoW or any other game over the past 10 years because that's like reminiscing about working 80 hours a week and coming home to a bitch wife and 5 bratty kids. That's all Eq threads. Only nobody really thinks going back to living like a broke college kid in their 40s is a good idea
Maybe it touched too much on the storybricks/dynamic world stuff? Or maybe he's just a weird guy.For some reason Georgeson deleted the following tweet:

There's EQ mac and P99. Problem is, you remember it being incredibly fun, but refuse to accept nostalgia as part of the reason. So you look at differences and decide that must be it.see, this is where you come off sounding like a fucking retard. people reminisce about their high school or college years because those were great times and you have mostly all fond memories and zero responsibilities. that's why most of the people here enjoy reminiscing about EQ, because those were good times. no one really wants to reminisce about WoW or any other game over the past 10 years because that's like reminiscing about working 80 hours a week and coming home to a bitch wife and 5 bratty kids.
Feel free to suggest new ideas. Still 21 days to speculate. There's EQ mac and P99. Problem is, you remember it being incredibly fun, but refuse to accept nostalgia as part of the reason. So you look at differences and decide that must be it.
There are a couple of things I do miss, but a lot of these ideas really are terrible.
For once I agree with you.I'm all about making a PVE game that doesn't give a damn about PVP and just let's it sit there unbalanced or not.
i remember it being incredibly fun because it was. if you decided to play a game for several years that you didn't like then you are a fucking idiot. i played it for 5 years because i loved the game. if you don't like EQ, then why the fuck are you even bothering posting in an EQ thread? i don't think it's crazy for people who liked the original EQ to want another game that is similar to the original. you on the other hand, are like some idiot who saw the original godfather and thinks that the godfather 2 would have been better off being a lavish musical because you think a sequel can't be successful if it's like the original. There's EQ mac and P99. I have multiple high level characters on both servers. Some of my best EQ memories are on these servers, and very recent. Classic EQ is my all time favorite game, by a mile. Nostalgia has little to do with it.There's EQ mac and P99. Problem is, you remember it being incredibly fun, but refuse to accept nostalgia as part of the reason.
Sure it is. Beats carpal tunnel syndrome from DDR combat any day of the week.Eq was good for 1999, not 2013. There's nothing wrong with wanting a similar, but much improved game. But hoping for things like forced downtime where you spend half your gaming session watching tv or reading a book is not improvement.
No it's not. You can have slower paced combat with less button presses but still remove the long regen, spawn times etc and still get your desired game. You won't get carpal tunnel and can progress at your groups own pace without being forced to wait.Sure it is. Beats carpal tunnel syndrome from DDR combat any day of the week.
Removing downtime essentially removes any need for resource management and instead we get ADD rotations and whack a mole combat. No thanks.Eq was good for 1999, not 2013.
