Them handing out xp bonuses without nerfing overall xp is a big miss. It's letting players speedrun to

"The Shadows of Luclin continues"

I think a big part of the goal here is to disincentivise rushing, power leveling, etc. I see this ruleset as a direct attempt to design around PL crews. We'll see how it plays out. I'm not convinced the unlock schedule is good, but I'm not dead set on it being bad either.

Wouldn't be shocked if this server pop grows over time to some degree. Rotating hotzone concept is genuinely good and encounter locking has flaws, but it does weed out a lot of toxic behavior.

resource hunter is fun. pulls a crowd of ppl to level in random ass zones, just like the old days

unfortunately they did a lot to make the server seem unfun before they started. i think the original rules said 1-2 zones per expansion would have a random bonus, so we didn’t even know if we’d get exp. it’s actually more like 10-15 per expansion, with a guarantee of each type. we didn’t think the bonuses would matter, either, so 300% xp, tradeskill skillups every swing, hill giants dropping 150plat on day 2… all of it is a huge surprise from what we saw on their promo

the whole 2 boxing typo thing spiraled into dozens of pages of discussion, and was totally avoidable too. would be nice to use that, if even just for a baz mule

i have no idea what they are thinking by changing the server into rizlona after a year, but thats just another example of wtf promo / planning is this

I'm glad it's not super popular, half of every popular TLP seems to be krono lords and botters so less of those is a welcome change. There's at least 3 super large guilds and another mob forming by siphoning every random that wasn't already in a guild at launch. So the big 3 or 4 guilds will have a feeder guild for a little while.

I'm gonna be a filthy casual and just play with the hotzone bonuses, maybe have a few alts and personas leveled up in time for AA, max a bunch of tradeskills thanks to that bonus and hopefully never set foot into Unrest ever again, have avoided it so far this server.

Also I think it has already been posted, but bookmark fangbreaker.zone if you haven't already, don't be a pleb that logs in and is the 30th person to ask what the hotzones are.

The hotzone stuff is honestly pretty great. I didn't plan to play here, and I doubt I'll even hit max level, but the hotzone portion of the ruleset is a hit for sure. Groups doing all sorts of random zones and its real good
I’m hoping that Unrest place finally gets a hotzone.

North Karana was a hotzone yesterday, was 30 people in main and another 10 in a pick. Lower levels killing animals, higher levels killing the guards at the tower and griffons/giants. Not seen that sort of activity in a long time. It does make the game world feel much more alive than the 20th CB-unrest-guk run where you only see the same few zones over and the rest of the world is wasted space.

Most of the people complaining are kronolords worried that their precious early TLP Taco Bell money might be impacted.

This is the first time in like 10 years they had a TLP cycle that skipped the classic experience that caused most of us to sign up in the first place. So it's a little more than that "pal"

Classic, Kunark, and Velious progression are what the majority of players returned for over the past decade since Ragefire launched in 2015.

I cast Taco Bell level 9 wizard spell on that ass son.

Mrniceguy smells like a wet gnoll. Darkpaw agent or just another guy with an extra thick helmet. Some are just born pre-equipped.

If he's a mole, dudes been deep for a while now. I'm surprised you don't remember your fellow TLP allstars from Phinny. He's riding my SoF below.

Thinking maybe the legacy bonus ain't all that with the way hotzones are.

Like leveling 9 alts/personas to hit 100% bonus isn't so important when you can just AA in zones with a 200-300% bonus.

Sure. But disincentivising PL crews by having everyone reach max level and quit because The Shadows of Luclin Continues isn't going to work well.

So I am certain the longevity of the server is garbage, but this launch and casual exploration from the resource hunter bonuses over the weekend has been the closest to og everquest feels I’ve had in a long time.

In a roundabout way it is an implementation of something a lot of us have wanted for years - changing up all the ZEMs each TLP launch so it's not the same couple of zones for leveling. It's too bad it's nine months of Luclin to go in to four months of PoP to have Gates unlock the same day as TLP 2026.

Is everyone on a mount from level one onward? The launch numbers might be lower but if everyone that did show upgave Daybreak an extra 15 dollars that'll make an impression.

I imagine most players have the free claim verdant mount that you get 999 claims of. Maybe I am overestimating how many people have older accounts though.

Really it's better than changing up the ZEM's because they'd never give out a permanent 300% ZEM, and it takes something that outrageous to smoke us out of the usual spots.

The rotating outrageous XP bonuses is an unbelievably fun ruleset change. I haven't felt like getting into a new TLP since Mischief but Fangbreaker had my curiosity and now has my attention. It's nice to be able to duo and chill and not feel like you're just wasting time. I grinded at the BB Chessboard. Like Mini said, ironically these ridiculous xp bonuses make the server feel more classic. No Chinese PL shitstains ruining Sol A and training me every 10 minutes is a big W.
