The guild Goburs made is riddled with RI guys so either they take over or there will be a repeat of Oakwynd where they get the shits after a couple of raids and split off to form a new guild.

And one of the other major guilds is led by Grok....poor guys who join that one gonna find out.

There may be an EU guild and a single PST guild too but don't know much about those guys.

I spent time in both Goburs's and Grok's guilds on Aradune. Goburs & RI seem like an odd fit. I didnt join until close to Luclin launch but we were mostly a DZ guild. Good group of people.

I first joined MoM blindly on Aradune. Grok can be a lot of fun to play with (if you have a thick skin), but he sucks at leading. He's like that annoying pro athlete who is beloved by his team's fans and hated by everyone else.

Hilarious that when the ruleset dropped and the discord was abuzz, he was in there talking up Oakwynd and trying to recruit for his guild there. Then like 2 weeks later, it's "get in on the ground floor, all the way to live, no really for real this time."

I joined TFC during Vex Thal as a druid named Slaad. Did we happen to cross paths? I know a few ex-MoM players that were in TFC too. Some of are in TEB now.. others moved on.

Resource Hunter has been activated on the test server. "A short time after entering" is five minutes making it very time intensive to check a bunch of zones. The weight of any bonus is hidden and the pool of available bonuses for any particular zone is unknown. I'm confused why a system of random bonuses that rotate daily (encouraging people to engage in frequent exploration) would then be kind of a chore to interact with. Day to day, week to week, month to month no one is going to want to spend this much time checking to see if the zones they've got an eye on have the right mojo. It'll be nice when the zones people already frequent have a bonus and of course players can share information but going and actively "hunting" these "resources" yourself takes a lot of time. When you're rewarded with something like bonus coin in Innothule Swamp it just feels kinda bad. So does being unsure if five minutes have gone by and standing around a little extra. I get that bonus exp or loot in the right zone is going to be impactful and the RNG is there for slot machine operant conditioning plus FOMO but I was hoping for more. Running hither and yon looking for bonuses and then seeing if you could squeeze extra juice out of one based on quirks of the zone could be interesting. Five minutes plus travel time each day per zone you want to check out is a hell of a tax to impose.

Yes! I remember you. I joined toward the end of Velious as Mithrax (SK) then switched to a wizard at Luclin launch. I think that char was named Baratu.

I travelled for like 5 months starting in Nov. '21, so I stopped raiding during GoD and went on an EQ hiatus. Moved to Mischief when I came back.

Edit: you're Tokus' brother right? I knew your name sounded really familiar. We played a shit ton together. Sad how much I've forgotten. Couldnt even remember my own char's name.

I assume the idea is you talk to other people. Your guild or even general chat. I don't think the designers care about people who play alone.

Why not make every zone a viable option? Instead of making people migrate like a swarm of locusts have every zone that is resource hunter eligible active all the time ?

Yes man - I am Tokus' brother and I remember you. We had a lot of fun back then. We hopped to Broken Oath and once that didn't work out we are in TEB now. Still chuggin' along. Hope you are doing well sir.

It reads like skill ups (which would be stupid) so maybe it's AA exp? Which is still kinda stupid? Resource Finder bonuses are open world and pickzone only (no DZ) so this is basically a blank.

I've been fucking around with this and there are some small changes that would help a great deal. Right now if you go in to a zone with bonus experience and kill something that grants experience the message is not "you gained experience (with a bonus)." It's just "you gained experience." The same is true of bonus coin. You wouldn't want to just stand still for 3.5 minutes waiting for the zone message about a bonus but the information you can glean from taking the initiative is slim. Bonus loot has an RNG component so a couple kills might not tell you anything. If you kill a thing and see the reputation numbers are bigger you can just move on but that and everything else needs you to know quite a bit about a lot of different things.

I've yet to see any bonus pop up in Freeport, Paineel or North Qeynos (cities with built in newbie yards) making Misty Thicket, Greater Faydark, Nektulos Forest, etc. possible launch superstars by comparison. It's not all that likely any one zone rolls exactly bonus experience but it could be a nice little surprise for the "I have to be a Gnome SK" guy when Steamfont Mountains has the hottness when the server goes up. If major sweats were playing on Fangarang having people scout for exp would make some sense and there will probably be some funneling among the playerbase as people find out X zone has bonus exp but I doubt it'll be all that impactful for the crews shooting for a sub 24 hour sprint to 50. Charm big shit in proven zones and don't overthink it.

For the last few years these servers have launched before Memorial Day weekend. This one launches after. That means that instead of a bonus exp period on that first weekend after launch it'll be a few months before Fangbreaker gets one. Exp pots to sell, yo.

Things like general chat will be way more useful, yeah, with people wanting to stay on top of where the bonuses are as they move around.

Unfortunately chat channels will also be inundated with relentless powerleveling spam that makes them completely unusable. Ignore lists have a limit, right? I don't know, I never put anyone on ignore. With so many people doing that shit, I'm guessing ignore lists will be capped fairly quickly.

Even on Teek, where very few people are actually leveling, there's powerlevel spam from numerous PLers at a rate of about one message every 3-5 seconds in general channels. Can these people go get a real job?

The only interest I have in this new server (and it is a VERY small amount of interest) is to farm a few krono in classic and get out. I have ZERO interest in playing this server long term. Teek is my long-term server now.

That being said, are there any Krono farming guilds starting up on this server?

I'd play a mage, necro, or wizard (wizard only if I can get a group to help me level because fuck LFG) for Classic before bouncing.

The system is still very time consuming if you want to track down bonuses on your own but players have an incentive to not share information. People are not going to like trying to use general for bonus info to get spammed constantly.

A little interactive page on their website that showed you the bonuses each day each zone with a timer would be 10x more fun for the playerbase than spending a half hour each day to see if a handful of your favorite zones have a cool bonus.

I hope they put some thought into what zones can get picked for the bonus. 50% bonus xp in Lesser Faydark still isn't going to get anyone to go there. Double gator meat in Oasis.

Most underutilized zones don't have enough mobs to support a group at modern power levels, and the group bonus is so big that trying to solo/duo is a waste of time outside of a few class-specific edge cases.

Probably a good thing, as there doesn't seem much excitement for this server, so people can at least box their own group much earlier, instead of later when servers are usually already desperate for characters but its too late.
