More like a reimagining or a fan homage. Its got far worse graphics than 1999 eq. Looks like a kid drew everything in an etch-a-sketch. Sure background and sky boxea are about on par with 1999 eq despite being higher res im surr, but the character and monster models are just bad low poly garbage with none of the charm of eq models.
