Was just about to post about this. Great news for the longevity of the game and curious what it might bring in terms of art assets.
I think they’re also hiring new artists right now too which is interesting since the new expansion is already in beta it probably isn’t assets for that.

It should be interesting to see what this does for the SEQ / MQ “communities”. Will they have a working MQ up via the beta before the new client goes live? Or will EQ have a few months with no MQ.

It'd be awesome if they finally update the player models. Tobey does amazing work for how goddamned old that engine is and one of the best "new" player models are frogloks (at least in terms of animations), which he created. This also potentially allows them to get around the current "size" limits on zones, which they apparently capped out in places like Heart of Fear.

It's hilarious watching people on the forums REEE about the change, because they're poor losers who can't afford $200 laptops and are "stuck" on 32-bit systems, rofl.

I'd love to see how many boxers on Mischief just vanish with no working MQ2.

It will be glorious! =)

64 bit also opens up the possibility of more race/class combos. I seriously doubt they'll add anymore classes at this point, but I think new races and/or combos are definitely on the table.

Two mobs that spawn in Ssra behind rhag1
Lol, that was totally my thought. The two lizards. When I asked in the official discord and put that out there as my guess, I was told it wasn't the case. I'm guessing if I was purposely misled then maybe it's still dropping (unless there were multiple locations).

So far I've only gotten a robe of dark beguilement and wizard 1.5 pieces, so maybe it is fixed, but I'll keep trying.

dont think eqemu nor the mq2s available for those clients will be affected (you still run titanium/uf/rof2)

but mq2 for live (and thus mischief) will probably be heavily affected

Geez, I was running a 14 year old box and it ran windows 10-64 fine, what are these guys running?

Maybe, we'll be able to buy more than one bag every TLP.

Did EQ get bought by people that give a shit?

Who fucking knows, but you literally can't get a CPU made in the last 15ish years that ISN'T 64 compatible. You could literally buy an 8gb/ram, SSD, refurbed laptop for like $200-300 that'll run EQ perfectly fine come the 64 bit client. Fuck, it'll probably run it even better than it does now simply due to being able to utilize more than 4GB of RAM.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they updated the old models and animations and gave them more polygons. I dream.

Worst thing about the 'new' models is the stand still pose. it looks so bad.

Daybreak said at one of their earnings reports that they had planned to heavily reinvest in their properties that were doing well. EQ is actually still making pretty decent money.

Them staying on a 32 bit client was actually a big concern for me and the future longevity of the game. I was afraid that EQ might honestly get too old for technology and be left to the dustbins. When I heard Jen talk to Shawn Lord, I was stoked when she briefly mentioned them working on a 64 bit client, but never thought it was this close to release.

I don't think people realize just how much they flat out aren't able to do purely because of the client limitations, even if they WANTED to.

For those who only know enough about computers for games and porn, what's the significance of the upgrade to 64 bit?

Bigger numbers. So more mobs, more ram usage, more polygons on screen. Just more of everything. It should make the client faster. It's a very good thing.

It was fixed as of my last ssra dz. They’re on like T4 tables now.

Only class left to add is Warmage. Or Battlemage, whichever. And I think it could work:

We have classes for melee+cleric, melee+druid, melee+shaman (BST), melee+necro, and melee+chanter (bard). All that's left now is melee+wiz+mage, a pure DPS class that fights at short range but also has lower-level pets, nukes, maybe even some self-only teleports. Would be supremely fun to play. Sort of a nuking rogue type deal. Only issue I can think of is that Ranger already kinda fills this role. However there are ways to make this different. Another issue is that adding it at level 120 or whatever would make it a non-factor on TLPs where most people would want to play them and get the lower-level experience. Introducing them at 120 and instantly obsoleting the first 119 levels would be iffy. The last class introduced was Zerker and they get a lot of nothing pre-60.

So I guess what I'd do is retroactively make the class unlock on TLPs at whichever early expansion makes the most sense. Maybe TSS or DoN. Or if they're feeling froggy, have it available from the start on Classic and drop it right around the time of the next TLP.

Dunno, there's a lot they could do to make something like this awesome and add some life to the game.

That's a lot of inside the box thinking. No reason it would have to be a mash up of two existing classes. Could be something completely different like Bards, a new priest, or a new pure caster.

I'd like to see something that heals by doing damage. Like disciple or bloodmage from Vanguard or early Rift Inquisicar builds.
