The interaction between the amount of exp you need for any particular level, the group bonus, resource hunter bonus, perk bonus and exp pot and how all of that affects the per kill exp cap is one gigantic black box. Sometimes that box spits out numbers that don't make much sense. I would have thought the exp cap was just a fixed and immutable percentage determined by your level but that does not seem to be the case. At least some inputs change how it's maximum size is calculated.
If you're soloing it's worthwhile to kill a range of monsters. Level minus one blues might cap you so why fuck around with yellows or reds at all. If you're grouping with all the bonuses you can sometimes go all the way down to light blues if you've got high volume and fast kill speed. Once you're working your way through the 50s killing higher level stuff is nice but there's less places to do that. Even if you can't the worst camp in hotzone Seb still fills the bar with the added bonus of you can stuff your group with any assortment of classes. For being the server where the kids voted for icecream at every meal Frostreaver produces a superior grouping experience to the other TLPs. I'm just so completely over the CLR/ENC/MAG shell. When exp is shitty everyone gets priced in to the charm pet meta. Those people finish leveling, which still takes a long ass time and everyone else has to get by with much less doing way worse. Here you can have oldschool (i.e. terrible) comps in mediocre camps and still level at a speedy pace.
