If you like/can stand youtube here are some channels that I use to learn more about the game:

Zaqq- in RvB, lots of fit videos. Some PvP and PvE videos.
Magnasis Drakkenwolf- has videos of him trying lots of different stuff as a new player, wormholes, pve, pvp. Currently in a null renter alliance so his current content about that
Jonny Pew/Sir Livingston- Low sec piracy, exploration and PvE. Currently on haitus but he has lots of videos up

That's Juice. I missed him the only day I saw him on but I haven't been playing much. Still trying to figure out what I want to do in this game, just training up my gun skills for my l4 mission runner currently. Might finish off my frigate skills and go try fw for awhile.

So I was playing today at work and someone linked this Pod Casino thing, and off-site gambling thing for eve. I transferred 5 mil to it and won 500mil from playing some lottery/slots and a new ship.

Hah.

As far as the game play goes, I'm playing as Amarr and I did all the intro missions in the imperial academy and then moved onto the next system and did the advanced military / combat / industry missions from the agents. I got some drones and scanned for some wormholes, went through one and though about engaging 30 sleepers near the edge of that wormhole space..thought better about it and went back through the worm to 1.0 space. Im in Arbaz now just running agent missions with no real direction to what I'm doing.

So, I guess my big questions are...can I make a base for myself? Or do I just store all my shit in random star bases that I start at?

By the time I got to level 4 and got guns/missiles trained on my gun/missile characters, I didn't even want to farm lvl 4s anymore. At least the skills aren't wasted per se, but damn. I trained so many millions of SP for missions that I may not have otherwise, but whatevs.

That's kind of where I'm at, but I did my engineering, armor and shield stuff to IV and V first since they seemed like they'd always be useful. I'm running L4 in a maelstrom with my buddy's Domi but after 4-5 missions I'm ready to go play something else. I'm going to finish my gun skills just because I started them although if I go to flying frigates for awhile all those large arty turret skills won't matter. I spend more time on my station trading alt than I do on anything else.

So, I guess my big questions are...can I make a base for myself? Or do I just store all my shit in random star bases that I start at?

You can build a POS (player owned station) but someone can come along and blow it up and it's prolly a bit of a pain to maintain by yourself. I haven't built one so I really don't know. The only reason I've considered it is to be able to research stuff in highsec without waiting a month.

I'd suggest selling anything you aren't using or won't be using in the near future unless you're doing some long term market speculation. I started in Minmatar space and then then moved around running missions until I ended up in the Dodixe area with running missions with a buddy. I've been too lazy to run back over to Rens to clean my shit up but its not really worth anything more than 10mil so I prolly won't bother.

A direction has been pretty hard for me to find but I think I'm going to finish my L4 gunboat stuff then start working on frigates/small turrets and find some FW group to run with. Or try to find an incursion group to run with and try to get some piles of isk from it I keep hearing about.

Do people really fall for this pyramid shit in local chat in EVE?

They must. I just assume everything in a trade system's local is a scam but I don't put them on ignore. I've seen the same scammers doing the same scams in dodixe local for the last 2 months and I don't think they'd continue if they weren't making money. I found a blog with a guy detailing his local chat scams, some of them are automated messages that generate income. He claimed doing it in person was farm more effective tho, chatting someone up can sometimes turn a small gift into a massive gift apparently.

Yes they do.Erotica 1is one of the more prolific spammers, and I tend to get conversations from people who were about to send some isk. This is because I'm in a chat channel with that clown on more than one of my characters and he just drags names into the chat channels to say things like "Tangurena, grats on 7 billion!". The guy got nailed because he was trying to scam Goonswarm into backing him for the next CSM and he also got nailed because CCP banned a whole bunch of spambots in Jita (including several of his), which turned Jita's local into a totally quiet system. Goons got bent when his main in CFC was doxing his scam victims and extorting sexual photos and RL details from them to get some of their isk back. Almost every thread about, or by Erotica1 is locked.

Holy shit that is epically fucked up. I wonder how long he'd been active in Jita. I always found the spam there intolerable when I played. I couldn't grasp how that much spam was productive for anyone causing it, but if they were bots obviously the opportunity cost goes off a cliff.

So here we are, another month gone by in Catfish Gumbo. Not even done with November, and we have those last two towers planted. It seems a far cry from the way things were a year ago with IBM and SSAL occupying two moons in system, with offline placeholders on the other three moons. With all five moons occupied, invasion options are severely limited for folks. You can't bring capitals into or out of C4 wormholes. The holes don't allow anything that big, so the hull have to be constructed in system. That means using sub-caps to attack faction-fit faction towers that have capital support, without any capital support of their own. I don't entertain any delusions of invulnerability, but most folks aren't going to bother with the slog through all that. With half a year of fuel and enough stront for a dozen full reinforce cycles, I'm feeling pretty secure.

Everything else is progressing as well. We're almost set on the T3 production front, and have already started inventing the subsystems. I have to claim ignorance on most of that, since Flamm has done all the heavy lifting on that. We dive a few times a week, and aside from a few hiccups with closer BS's and SOMEONE not paying attention, we've managed to pull large piles of ISK out with noone bothering to contest us yet. We pulled off our second ransom yesterday, netting 300m isk plus a 1.5bn isk fit Tengu from some Russians. Poor guys had 12 combat anoms up in system, and clearly had caps to run things. It took an hour to work past the translator, but the patience was worth it. We took our 2bn, rolled into another deserted Russian hole and cleared 4bn out of that in a few hours.

We are taking in folks on a very limited basis at the moment. Stankwoo is in corp now. Hopefully, any of the rest of you that are interested in joining are less excited, and less Texan. But if you are interested, hit me up ingame. Now that our major expenses (the towers) are out of the way, we're ironing out things like payout calculations. It's not all perfect yet, and probably never will be, but it's getting better.

I wasn't even really thinking about the tone, but in retrospect, it does kinda look like that. I was planning on making a more thorough post, but I just kinda hammered this out over lunch.
