Yes you are correct they are totally 100% not similar at all.

In thj you logged in for the first time, spent lets just say 10-20 hours leveling to cap and max AA. Once you were at cap you spent 100% of your time killing raid mobs. If you got good rng for drops/Legos good, otherwise you grabbed the normal base gear off the baz for dirt cheap and you leveled them clearing the trash to your next raid boss. Time spend leveling 10-20 hours. Time spend clearing raids = all remaining time /played. AA caps increased per expansion pack but so too did exp spots, lguk in vanilla, veksar/hs in kunark, dragon necropolis in velious, etc. Also each alt you had (total AA per account) sped up the AA leveling time so each new combo you wanted to try was raid ready faster than the previous, to the point that it took less than 4 hours in velious.

In perky you will spend 150-200 hours "leveling" on trash mobs in exp zones hoping for AA scripts. there is no reason to enter raids other than arbitrary unlocks, gear and plat to buy it is so plentiful its pointless, besides everything is trivial due to said gear. You will never make an alt because it will require just as many weeks to level as the first one. Can't even twink because gear is so ridiculous your already twinked, your leveling is based on rng drops.

Gameplay jn thj was soloing progressively harder and harder raid mobs as your gear improved and your character gained more power, as higher tiered encounters unlocked per expansion.

Gameplay in perky is spending weeks and months trying to loot scripts from PoI trash. If you can't understand the difference then I hope you give everquest legends a try you seem like just their type of customer.

For the record im giving ascendant another shot. It atleast has some challenge since its progression (velious just launched) and has gear just like thj. it has a much slower power curve than thj though you start off as weak as normal, but eventually with lucky enough rng and enough AAs you can even surpass triple classes

The only difference is what carrot they use. You are still grinding the same trash and the same bosses on the daily. Same gameplay loop that THJ had, but lacking in the polish and QOL. You'll actually get to cap in Perky much faster than in THJ. I just did my first rebirth last night, and in under an hour I was already in my 40s again. I will be 54 in under an hour today and closing in on AA cap today or tomorrow since you can do both at the same time. Scrip drops are insanely fast once you unlock planes. You will absolutely get hundreds per hour compared to grinding POTac for days on end in THJ trying to maybe hopefully complete 1 of 50 lego augs needed to complete your gear.

I loved THJ. I am currently loving Perky. I may or may not be patient 0 on the board for EQL. For a paid game/service I may wait like I am for MNM. If it's a trivial cost I will just give it a try once it is at full 1.0.

I'm glad you are enjoying Ascendant, and I will probably give that a go in a week or two after I get a toon or two finished up in Perky.

Cool you are still too dense to understand despite typing the words. What are you doing? Leveling again and farming AAs, about 12% to cap now? Cool story bro. Way fucking slower than thj, not even done leveling your character yet. Nothing at fucking all like thj. The only time you had to grind in thj was once, at the beginning, for afew hours until your character was done. After that you only had to concern yourself with leveling gear if you were unlucky and you did that on the trash between bosses in raid zones, never had to go back to an exp zone again *ever* to grind unlike perky, where *ALL* you do is grind trash in exp zones.

You think grinding trash mobs in exp zones for weeks on end is the same as killing gods and dragons. I get it, its all the same to you because you're still pressing buttons (well mouse clicking buttons and keyboard turning for you i suspect). Im done talking to you shitting up this thread and I hope you are done as well. Good day sir.

Edit: it was really bothering me how a person could type out that they were still leveling, not even 20% done with leveling, yet simultaneously holding the belief that this was *faster* than the 4 hours it took to level in THJ. But i think I figured it out. This isn't a knock on you, but for you the game, everquest itself, is about watching numbers get bigger. You click spell gems, flashy lights go off, and numbers get bigger. That's the game to you.

So yes, on perky your characters stats go up way faster than thj, so in that respect from your pov perky is faster than thj. Do the numbers even mean anything? No, but they went up. You're still leveling yet already clearing all the raids, so what is the point of raiding? For the off chance a piece of gear drops that is +1 gooder of course, so the numbers can go up.

In reality thj and perky are almost diametrically opposed, for anyone who plays for any other reason beyond watching numbers get bigger.

Remember grinding trash mobs for weeks trying to level? Where the only redeeming quality was the people suffering with you, shooting the shit to pass the time, making friends? OK let's keep the grind, but remove the players. Lets keep the weeks/months of grinding, but do it solo, and let's take away the exp bar. No more watching progression slowly tick up in response to your effort and time invested. Instead its gonna be rng loot drops. You can get 2-3 in a row then go 20 minutes without seeing a single drop. That will keep leveling exciting.

And why are we leveling? To raid for gear improvements or maybe to make some plat selling rare quality goods to other players? Nope. Nothing you get will top rb3 stuff that's basically free on the bazaar, and nothing you loot can approach the 200k plat an hour drop rate for vendor trash from a lvl 35 zone.

Its effortless and challenge free but the numbers go up faster than other emus.

If you want to keep mischaracterizing both emus, then that's fine. It's incorrect and misleading, but still fine. THJ's farming and grinding didn't end until all your gear and your pet's gear was full lego with full augs. It was not a fast process by any stretch of the imagination unless you were whaling, and it wasn't just popping in to kill bosses once a day. There was still a lot of other farming that had to be done to optimize. Now, you can always not optimize. That's true in both emus. You can just jam to max level, get some decent toys, and be done in a day or two if that's your thing. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But you are still wrong about the emus being massively different. They both revolve around doing your daily set of bosses for gear. They both involve farming the unholy shit out of trash mobs if you want to optimize. THJ's long game was about farming augs. Not just the boss ones, unfortunately. Perky's long game is AAs and aug farming, too. Though it is a lot faster than THJ was, so you can have a toon done with all rebirths and capped out on AA and fully geared probably within a couple weeks. I am getting 100+ AAs hourly when I am dialed in on farming them. I played THJ for months and still never finished getting augs done. Had a lot of fun, but it was what it was.

BD and MMM and POP and MC and the new rebirth zones all have lots of bosses you need to kill to get the best loot. I wish THJ had been able to get more xpacs done so we could have seen more fun raid zones, but we'll see how EQL goes for all that.

Ive been really casually playing perky when I can. SSF. But despite the concept seeming pretty cool, I think the stability issues are just too much for me. Crashing or disconnecting fairly regularly. Weird mob pathing and agro stuff. Through walls etc. may be too frustrating to be worth my thin boomer-tier time allotment for games.

I'm still enjoying it, but I have an incurable case of alt-itis. My biggest toon is BST, and while MC is great for AA farming, it also ends up giving you insane amounts of augs. With no level requirements on them. Turns out you can just turn anything into the equivalent of a POP geared toon just by recycling your augs.

This server has been pretty fun, have been playing with a buddy for a little over a month now. Getting CT and Maestro in Kunark felt like a real challenge with my sk/wiz/clr trio. Also clearing ToV after velious launch. Fun server, will prob be hanging it up soon. Mostly just farming the vulak tier bosses for more vulak loot at this point. If anyone is starting and wants loot I have a ton of shit.

For those starting up… getting to 35 so you can get dire charm is key. DC the gnome explorer in lguk and aa there to about 500 before moving to Seb. If you have good gear you can go to Seb at 35. You can stay in seb forever, crypt is some of the best xp and plat in the game. Get 60 there then farm the rest of your aa and plat.

Divine Avatar + Rabid Bear is key to slaying big bosses. Add in Destructive Force for massive aoe potential. I usually pull the entire top floor of Seb. With recent CD reductions they all reset in less than 10 mins.

Anyone got some spare gear for a Paladin on Perky Crew? Currently 35 in Lguk and it's slow going. Characters name is Mapo. If anyone can mail some stuff it'll be greatly appreciated, thanks.
