New Freeport is just so awful that I honestly would take that modified Old Freeport.
(Not touching Legends either way though)
It should be the original versions of all zones. So old Freeport, commons, ro, lava storm, ocean of tears.

It's actually quite comical reading all the replies here of doom and gloom based off of some streams by the developers and what they read on the discord. I'm curious... how many of you doom and gloomers are actually in the beta and have any real knowledge to base your bullshit predictions on? I'm betting the answer is... none.
It's so easy to hate on a project when looking from the outside in, but here's an idea.. how about waiting until you can actually fucking try the game before predicting its demise? Because right now, you're no more than the dumb fuck walking around New York with a billboard strapped to your chest screaming "THE END IS NEAR!!!". Literally, you're just shitshowing for the sake of shitshowing in the hopes that someone will hit a like on your post.
We see it on every single new MMORPG on these forums. People doom and gloom the fuck out of everything before they ever fucking try it. It's old. Seriously. It's fucking old already.
Do I agree with everything the people in charge of this game do and say? No. But, I'm not going to judge the game or make stupid prediction posts about the game until I actually get to play it first hand.

Some of these newer members are just people that came over during THJ era and all they do is bitch that nothing will ever be as good as THJ, not realizing that Secrets wrote the multi-class code and the rest was shit largely borrowed/massaged from the past 20 years of emulators. Some are vets that don't give a shit but like to bitch. Some don't like that Secrets is a "they" because they harbor weird insecure trans/homophobic tendancies and tend to feel it's being "thrown in their face constantly". The rest are likely the addicts/poverity stricken that make their living on krono and without krono or "alts" the chance to sell currency or accounts is limited and therefore a direct attack on their lifestyle.
In reality, the game looks OK, seems like a grinder, I also hope they don't fuck it up, but I find most of the complaints to be pretty weak. I think anything that can jumpstart interest into this franchise is good thing (again, holding out hope it doesn't suck).

The thing is, as soon as I defended the game, the very first reaction to my reply was

My fiance would find that hilarious that someone would call me a faggot if I told her, and yes she is a woman and was born a woman. It's a sad world we live in when you immediately get called something just because you defend THE WORK of someone that just happens to be of a lifestyle that someone else does not like. Here's the thing, I couldn't give two shits what Secrets does in their love life. That has absolutely nothing to do with the work that Secrets puts in to the game's development. I find it stupid that anyone would define a person's ability to perform their job based off of who they sleep with when not at work. That's fucking immature and stupid to the nth degree.
I have WAY MORE angst towards DBG for the fact that they bring wokeness INTO the game by creating pride pets every single year for EverQuest. To me, that's forcing a lifestyle on your customers. From what I have seen so far, I haven't seen Secrets forcing anything on anybody in EverQuest Legends. Instead, what I see is a really cool looking game based on old school EverQuest.
I believe that EVERYONE should be judged by what they bring to the world rather than what they believe in. The belief that some people here ASSUME that EQL will suck SIMPLY BECAUSE Secrets is trans is, in the simplest terms possible, FUCKING RETARDED. You don't have to be woke to know that hating people based on their personal beliefs is immature.

Secrets in a role being managed by someone else is probably the sweet spot. An unmanaged Secrets is not ideal for the success of the game.

I played enough Quarm and sat in the Discord channel long enough to know anything ran by Secrets is going to have their lifestyle bleed into it. The modern day EQ community is basically no different than a group of professional protesters who find the dumbest shit to argue about and Secrets almost always sides with them (see Gypsy issue which was some guy who supposedly had a girlfriend get upset by the word ingame). Now on top of all that you have super dyke Jenn Chan in charge of Secrets which is probably even worse.

There is nothing new about this. It's a Revamp of a Revamp based off a 27 year old game that's been played to death. It's being primarily lead by someone who as already tried to do a server like this and failed in that attempt. That person is highly unlikable and has clearly demonstrated they don't understand why their past attempt at a multiclass EMU failed, while THJ got so big it was mogging the official servers. If that wasn't enough it's also got Daybreak's money grubbing lawyer forcing them to make decisions that are bad for gameplay hoping to nickle and dime the consumer.
Take for example the item upgrade system, that was shown in detail. This existed on THJ, but on THJ it required less items to upgrade. On THJ you also had a secondary way to power up items by putting them in the Power source slot. This system had it's pros and cons. But the 2 biggest Cons were 1) it was extermely tedious when you needed large numbers of items to upgrade an item. 2) Augs and items that couldn't be put into the Power Source slot became the ENTIRE focus of end game gearing.
EQL apparently saw that system and were like Hmm how can we make those 2 major cons worse, while simultaneously taking away some of the pros.
