The risk for them is 8 man raids with actual hard content might end up being harder than most EQ TLP content and drive off all the players they are trying to get. EQ raids being like 40-72 people in this era makes raiding very casual, reducing that to 8 doesn't make it more casual, it makes it way more hardcore.
Are they planning on making the 8man raids hard? I thought

EQL has been designed from the ground up to appeal to players who enjoy playing their games solo and/or casually. While groups (up to 4 players) and raids (up to 8 players) are available, the entire game can be played, enjoyed, and experienced solo if that’s your playstyle.

Meant you could solo the raids, or form a group with others and faceroll the content.

Everything I've read makes me think it's a trivial, grindy game that you can p2w your way out of the grind.

Multiple difficulty levels for both solo and raid content, supposedly. Solo raid content at easiest level should be doable, but hard to say at this point how tough 8-man raid content at highest difficulty will be.

Keep in mind Secrets tried the multiple difficulty levels thing on Quarm and it was a fucking disaster and I think got scrapped (at least in Kunark).

I'll be surprised if they have genuinely difficult 8 man raid content. The EQ playerbase is full of weak potatoes.

With +difficulty I believe mobs themselves start to multiclass. Depending on how many class abilities their second class get, that could make stuff like max difficulty Lower Guk or Sebilis pretty nasty. Fighting Harmtouching Wizards or ANYTHING that can cast fear down there is very spooky.

Guildmate got in and he said he thinks it's gonna be good. He's the only person I actually know who's played so far and so many people have pre-formed opinions whether they're THJ butthurt fans dooming it or thirsty EQ no-lifers that think EQ Landmark would make 200 million if released right now that I'm not going to pay attention to anything until I play myself.

I'm withholding my opinion to actually play it. I think it will be shit but I don't have viable evidence to prove such, however they are doing a lot to make it easy to believe it will be shit.

I'm perfectly cool with them having content that appeals to both solo, group, and raiders. The problem with that is, it's being marketed as soloable if raid drops raid exclusive stat items then I have a problem with it because solo players are being disenfranchised on their purchase.

If raiding rewards more drops or just cosmetics cool, I think the raid and group versions should drop a larger quantity of items after all there are more people but the stats need to stay the same, no additional + none of that bullshit.

I think the main people hyping it are the EQ no life people, you got dumb fucks saying that Everquest Landmark was a good value and how it wasn't intended to be part of Next. These people are lost causes and honestly should be deported to someplace like Somalia they obviously aren't going to add anything valuable to the world just send them to the shithole with mud huts and war.

The people that are hating on it are either upset about THJ or they've been bitten so many times by DBG that they hope everything even remotely related to that company burns, and honestly I can't blame them been there and fallen for the shit myself way to many times because of stupid nostalgia for Everquest.

Now... I do give credit where credit is due...

FUCKING GOOD. Anything that helps fuck over boxers. Don't agree with the Aliases thing and think that's retarded because I like Alts but Fuck Boxers get rid of /follow anyone saying

"Well my friend bob with no arms and legs really loves playing Everquest but because he has no arms and legs needs the follow command to follow me while pecking the keyboard with his nose to heal me needs follow!"

Fuck off everyone knows these people are lying just fucking stop. It makes me irrationally mad.

They way the game is set up right now encourages sitting in as big of a group as you can to make it easier and because your rewards are not split with others. I think this is unfortunate for solo players, they will be well behind organized groups.

If they have proper instancing this is a moot issue. It's just a difference in time to end game, not access to it. Aliases are just whatever they are doing with personas. That is a perfectly cromulent way to alleviate any need for alts on the same account. You can have up to 15 on live, so one for every class. On this server you could change that to one for every race. Definitely looking forward to trying this out. It could end up as garbage, but it could end up as fun.

Apes have always been stronger together. Encouraging social aspects of the game while ACTUALLY giving a route to complete solo is fine. Even in THJ you had people grouping up for faster clears on harder content. Now you just will have a reason for randoms to join up rather than bros only.
