I believe you can summon anyone to your party like coth, so maybe they just think their GMs are so retarded they need to see someone with boxes stuck to them to identify cheating? Like you said, cheating thrives not because of detection, just go to Siren's Grotto on a TLP at any time of day and you'll catch them, it's because DBG doesn't give a shit about the game.

I'm withholding my opinion to actually play it. I think it will be shit but I don't have viable evidence to prove such, however they are doing a lot to make it easy to believe it will be shit.

I'm perfectly cool with them having content that appeals to both solo, group, and raiders. The problem with that is, it's being marketed as soloable if raid drops raid exclusive stat items then I have a problem with it because solo players are being disenfranchised on their purchase.

If raiding rewards more drops or just cosmetics cool, I think the raid and group versions should drop a larger quantity of items after all there are more people but the stats need to stay the same, no additional + none of that bullshit.

I think the main people hyping it are the EQ no life people, you got dumb fucks saying that Everquest Landmark was a good value and how it wasn't intended to be part of Next. These people are lost causes and honestly should be deported to someplace like Somalia they obviously aren't going to add anything valuable to the world just send them to the shithole with mud huts and war.

The people that are hating on it are either upset about THJ or they've been bitten so many times by DBG that they hope everything even remotely related to that company burns, and honestly I can't blame them been there and fallen for the shit myself way to many times because of stupid nostalgia for Everquest.

Assuming their policy is anti boxing in general I applaud this action and have been curious what a TLP with an explicit no boxing policy with limited feature would look like. I also wouldn't mind seeing /target, /assist and the extended target window being axed too.

A huge risk, of course, is that the less boxing options there are the more lucrative industrial strength botting is. If they are trying to make a grindy p2w game they'll have to get really good at bot detection because the old EQ playerbase would love to funnel their social security check into getting a +5 FBSS and any kind of botting will drop the USD value of whatever they are trying to sell.

There is a chasm of difference between solo players being able to be on the frontier of getting top items and killing the hardest bosses (THJ) vs solo players plodding along weeks/months behind organized groups killing bosses several tiers below those groups and taking multiples of time to do so (EQL).

At the end game this is going to be solo in name only unless something dramatic changes.
Time will tell. Min/maxxing in THJ was a thing, but in the end most folks could do everything regardless of build. Some builds took longer, sometimes a lot longer, to get there, but everyone could get there. EQL is going to have personas, so if one build is lagging, you can just hop onto a different one. Soloing the same zones, just slower, is perfectly fine. Solo is never in name only. It is either possible or it's not. If it's not, EQL will will go down in flames and the emu scene other than quarm and p99 will either be forced to bend the knee and accept the same restrictions or close up shop. Which I would expect most to close, because all custom stuff and xpacs past POP would be nuked.

I'm waiting for my beta key (or live) to give things a shot. I am curious to see how this all plays out.

Apes have always been stronger together. Encouraging social aspects of the game while ACTUALLY giving a route to complete solo is fine. Even in THJ you had people grouping up for faster clears on harder content. Now you just will have a reason for randoms to join up rather than bros only.

Personal loot effectively allows anyone to buy double dropable loot. It's probably the single worst thing they could do.

The reason cheaters don't get banned is because there is a lack of will to ban them. Detection has never been the problem anywhere in everquest. Or, hot take, if their cheating is so mild that its practically undetectable unless core features used by legit players get bulldozed to expose it... how much should I care?

Almost like Secrets is an RMTing boxer on TLPs and wants to make it harder for legit players to RMT.

"Dropable loot" can be bought, but they said raid drops are still no drop. So mostly what this does is encourage A: grouping and B: competent/cheating boxers. I'm not a fan of boxers, but with every single zone/raid being instanced and loot not really being sellable, it's much less of a problem. Especially without the muddying of krono in the economy making everything a thousand times worse (gee, wonder why TLPMan AKA Mabbu/Vicious doesn't like this server?!?!?) it's fine letting people box because they're bored or because they don't have guildmates or whatever the case.

The RMTing stuff is funny as people were already boo-hooing the items being no drop on here, but that is one of the most effective ways of cutting down RMT. If they do a startup lockout on DZ's they'll basically obliterate the selling of loot off raid bosses as well.

RMT will be largely unavoidable with geared characters. They can do account monitoring or whatever, and I'm sure people will hate that, but what's going to happen is going to be people getting their 8 man, whatever cheat program goes beyonds Secrets's scope, and blast a bunch of top-giered characters. Then sell them piece meal. With the personal loot people will be able to manufacture these pre-fab BIS characters fast as fuck, but again if there's not droppable raid loot and every single thing is instancable with no leaderboard, why would I care?

This will have effectively zero in game economy the way it's currently set up. If they somehow revamp the entire tradeskill system in 8 weeks then maybe it could have an economy around materials or something, but they'll probably make all of those no drop too.

Out of game people will probably sell +4 carries for a personal "roll" of the boss loot table.

Watched some one that wasn't the devs play. Yeah, this is definitely better than what I saw on the live streams. It definitely feels like THJ with some upgraded systems and some changed systems. No instancing is definitely an issue, but their plan is full instancing so just have to wait and see on that. Classes have unique to EQL stuff that makes comboing more of a thinking process than just going for bruteforce melee or spell caster with a healer 3rd. They seemed to have added lower level "filler" items to classic zones that have reasonable stats to let you farm a lower place a while without feeling like it's a waste.

Hopefully they have a large open beta so people can test for themselves. That's always the best solution. A short-term open beta with full scope, WITH character wipes. Between butthurt, fanbois, gaming journalists, 80 hour a week degens, and 3 hour a week dadgamers, there's only one way to find out if a game is "worth it" and that's sticking your dick in it.

The main two issues there are
A:server stability/DDOS (it will happen)
B:doofuses burning themselves out min/max grinding 18 hours a day during beta and then being butthurt those characters are being deleted. That's a guarantee. Much worse the longer between beta/launch as people get antsy and start shitposting 100x more than usual because they're all ADHD riddled autistic children in 48 year old bodies.

There are a couple interesting things. Removing weapon procs to put in something else will be interesting. A lot to fix in two months too imo. The multi class mobs constantly casting stuns is super annoying. pathing is wonky. social aggro seems broken. (possibly intended?) a lot of quests broken still. (race issues with classes that can't normally be that class.)

It's basically what I would expect from playing on these people other emu servers. It's everquest with qol so it's kind of cool, but overall very bland.

People in the Beta plus the devs said MOST raid drops are still no drops. There is tons of BIS in first 3 expansions and a handful of important stuff in Luclin-PoP Cloak of Flames, SOD, ,Trak BPS, BOC, Seru bane mats, Planar Bows ect.

Option 1 Kill Efreeti 100 times to farm a +10 Ring
Option 2 Kill Efreeti 50 times with 1 AFK box to farm a +10 ring
Option 3 Kill Efreeti 10 times with 10 AFK toons sitting near by to obtain a +10 Ring.

It's literally a Gacha Mechanic adding personal loot to this.

But if you're dumb enough to buy this shitty phone game version of THJ you get what you deserve.

Dad's are not going to fear, they are going to play to mid 20s, have their fill of nostalgia and then drop off. Why would they be nostalgic for shit they never did in the first place? Having three classes to figure out, with new abilities and items you have no nostalgia for isn't a carrot. I'd also be surprised if the p99 no changes crowd bothers to stay subbed for more than a few months.

I feel like the target for this server is the custom emu chaser / tlp crowd, but I'd imagine most of them have already played THJ or autistically done the TLP cycle for the last 10+ years. Did they even say how long you'd be stuck in classic? Standard TLP unlock is 8 weeks per xpac for each expansion. Even then, people drop off after the first month and come back once the new stuff is dropping each tier. Having it as a separate sub and not allowing people to burn krono it's going to be hard to keep subs up without a super aggressive expansion cycle.

Faster XP than classic, slower than live, the streams we have seen have dudes hitting 20 in 4 hours from lvl 1.

Okay now imagine there isn't personal loot and you're grouping with friends, if you had any to group with.

You seem to be having fun with it. That's great for you, but I'm just finding it pretty boring. Trying to give it a try because it's free, but I don't see myself paying for it.


I get what your saying about items. But when I'm farming up something and it gets a couple more ac/stats or a better ratio, it's better yes, but still boring.

Also, level 20 in four hours? Holy shit, wow that's so cool. -.- (also the dev stream couldn't do that and they had powerleveling lol)

The friend I watched was level 35 mostly solo in 2 play sessions and he spent a while camping a mob to upgrade his weapons to +9 that was green to him.
