Okay now imagine there isn't personal loot and you're grouping with friends, if you had any to group with.

Can you imagine killing Efreeti lord 600 times? Probably not great.

Okay now imagine this instead of 10 tiers there was 3 tiers and the game wasn't designed be an endless artificially long grind to extract as much money from you as possible, but was instead designed around whats actually fun.

This is really hard to imagine, a Terribly Hard Job to do, but hopefully someone will think of something.

It's predictable and sad. 90% of the server will be ALMOST awesome but the emu devs need to personally shove themselves in so they'll deliberately fuck with it. The other 10% will be just whats left of actual everquest.

When was the last time we had fun though? All I've been doing for 20 years is chasing the dragon with my rose colored glasses on.

I personally think it will be fun. The real question I have at this point in my life is, will it be enough fun for me to devote my free time to it long term?

I am finding this to be more and more of a valid question with all MMORPGs these days. I am starting to find that I just don't have the drive to play everything all the time anymore. In fact, the only MMORPG that truly holds my interest long term anymore is Lord of the Rings Online, and even with it, I find myself losing interest every so often and coming back to it a few weeks later to get going again.

Maybe the reality is that I have out grown MMORPGs. I'm old. Get off my lawn.!!!!

That all to say that I do THINK I will like EQL a lot, but I am not sure I will like it enough to pay a box price AND a monthly subscription. Time will tell of course.

Up front plus sub is a dead model, IMO. They aren’t going to get many people to do that. I’d do a box cost, but the subscription part turns me off, a lot.

That said, I’d like to complete a few Kunark epic quests, run Hate and Fear again, and socialize with FOH peeps.

I last had fun on EQ when I played a week ago and got my new 6box team of free heroic characters up to level 125 in live.

If a game isn't fun, don't play it. There's so many games out there.

It's also OK to like enough to play once in a while then unsub until they release a fun update/xpac. That's how the TLP model works. It's how Diablo and WOW and FFXIV work. If EQL sticks the landing and is fun enough to play, it will be fun enough to put in whatever rotation you have. Play until it stops being fun, then bail.

I will be playing this year's TLP at some point, but probably not until POP. They seriously screwed the pooch on that one.

Going down the rabbit hole now, lol. I have to admit, this all seems pretty sweet.

Some nice changes. I was a bit disappointed when I heard that they removed higher leveled mobs from locations that were much lower level. The example given was Befallen's entrance that had the roamer that occasionally came up to the top. I always considered that part of the game. I hope they do not place Griffons and Sand Giants in "Safer" areas. The simple change to negative buffs is something that should have been done decades ago. Having to deal with a negative buff after the mob is already dead was always a stupid idea. The mob dies and so should the magic the mob used.

I think the class unlock is fine, its just normal gameplay in Sky. The race one is definitely retarded but it also only matters to the mentally ill retarded people who do shit like the Insane in wow.

Dunno. All races and classes should be available from day one. Maybe it’s because currently you can only have one character per server and to unlock more you have to do achievements or w/e?

You can choose whatever you want at the start, only restriction is that your primary class has to be within the race you select. Until level 11 you can freely choose a different primary class within your race, but at 11 you lock it in. You can only change the primary class once you've unlocked other classes, but your 2 other classes you can freely choose whatever you want whenever.

I’ll admit it’s not entirely clear to me yet how this server will work with multiclassing. Do all 3 level up as you go, or do you direct xp to only one class at a time which means you essentially level 3 times per character?
Can you freely use spells from a multi class while you’re playing a warrior primary? Do you have to pick 3 classes that all share the same armor and weapon requirements?

-Char creation you pick first class. (restricted by your race selection)
-still on char creation, pick second class. No restriction
-both level as you play until 10, then you pick third class. no restriction.
-level 11, you LOCK your primary class and race. You cannot change these until you get tokens/achievements/mtx. You can change your secondary/tertiary classes in major cities and you will delevel to your lowest level.

Aha. Ok so that clears up the class and race lock potentially (in the cash shop and achievements).
But, it sort of sounds like after lvl 11 not all classes level in tandem?
