From what people said, symp aura disables melody, if you want more songs you manually twist.
I'll poke at /queuemelody when I log in later and start farming Hate. I know you can't even cast group songs with symp on, but I have heard people saying melody works for your dots and single target songs.

Sorry if this is obvious, but have they announced a rough release timing for the live game?

I doubt I'll get into beta and probably wouldn't spend too much time in it anyway, but really interested in checking it out at release.

Are there decent heal augs? One of the reasons THJ was diverse of builds and fun was being able to have a no healer build and use procs with crit to heal. Of course PAL or SK had the lifetap/heal proc built in which was just infinite life depending on gear and luck.

if no way to heal via proc/a then every build will require the old school EQ holy trinity of some nature.

Do pets hold aggro off melee players in this, or is it the old prioritize melee range PCs above pets?

They can, but without a way to heal/mitigate the damage they are taking it's not the greatest plan. You will want mag and bst both for pet builds. The AAs they get make a huge difference. Hobble of Spirits procs a fuckload and is a permanent buff. Companion's Fury (old school Frenzied Burnout) is a huge DPS booster and has at least 80% uptime. BST has best pet haste and heals, and can slow. MAG pets are best hps and dps and have DS.

Hopefully they add aas for pet hp/ca/cs sooner rather than later. Or just boost the base for all pets.

Pet Multi-classing I believe is coming. There's not any details for non-beta-ers, but I believe you get to pick one or two "classes" for your pet and that's their way of keeping only one pet for multi pet builds. That and they're using actual EQ servers so I don't know if they can operate 3 intelligent pets at once with their current coding, even THJ had some problems with that and they were working of EMU code.

Thanks for the answers, was wanting to play Rogue so was curious if I could use BST pet to enable backstabbing.

Rogue's get "chaotic" stab at level 1 for free, so you can backstab at any angle. There may be a 5-10% penalty from any side but behind though.

whatever multipet problems THJ had were minor at best. It was almost brutally unfair.

I tried the BST/MAG/NEC and it was insane. You could individually control which one taunted(tanked) and gear them all(mage pet had more gear slots), they could equipped auged weapons, etc. it was literal beast mode, no pun intended.

i tried playing my character as melee BST, and a dot NEC and both were super effective once geared toward each direction. Found NEC style did a bit better on bosses and obviously BST was better for avg mobs though I’d be lucky if I got 10 hits in before the pet army just raped whatever.

petcuck was a term for a reason. Most thought it cheesy but I actually had fun with it.

Seen a lot of SK or Paladin in build specifically for life tap and proc builds and they do well.

On EQL you only get one pet but if you are using two or three pet classes then that one pet has up to 11 or 12 equipment slots and more AA options.

I would make a bet that pet “stances” or other enhancements are also coming, like we are starting to see for nuking/dot classes.

Big patch notes today, they're on discord not sure hosted anywhere else. A lot of changes. Caster STANCES are in and some look pretty fucking cool:

May 22, 2026 cont'd: Gameplay
Invocations are in and can be used in tandem with Melee Stances.,
Recovery: "You regenerate mana (excluding out of combat bonus) at twice the rate and spells have a 5% reduced mana cost."

Empowering: "Adds 25% plus 10% per additional non-hybrid casting class to HP spell effects at the cost of 50% more mana."

Inversion: "Shifts two-thirds of spell cast time into the global recovery time at a cost of 10% more mana and endurance."

Spellblade: "Treats the first spell-gem slot (must be a spell with a reuse time <= the cast time) as a proc that consumes both mana and endurance (33% of the normal spell mana cost).";

Overchannel: "Cast spells have a -100 resist adjust plus another -15 for every non-hybrid caster class at a cost of 33% more mana and 10% of the total mana cost from endurance."

Inviolable: "Cast spells are uninterruptible due to movement, stuns, or interrupt effects at the cost of 100% more mana and 50% of the total mana cost from endurance."

Divine: "All spell casts with a mana cost will heal the group member with the lowest hp percentage by that cost. For every additional wisdom class, this will repeat with a heal for 33% of the mana cost."

D4 Yael WIZ/CLR/SHM multiclass - 30 seconds of terror as he unloads his whole mana bar followed by 15 minutes of autoattacking without any possibility of dying. Hopefully solo instance HP will be tweaked this was terribly boring.
