I would say the true meta at the moment for D4 content is probably Ogre SHM/PAL/CLR, it does considerable dps and is top line in mitigation, sustain and healing. You can swap the shm or pal for another support or tank too without losing much and be D4 capable but it will be slightly worse imo since those 3 classes combine extremely well together.

Any combo with a tank (even a monk or a ranger/zerker) and a cleric or shm is going to have a fairly easy time getting into D2 raids at a minimum though and start unlocking other classes.

SK/CLR/BRD or SK/CLR/SHM will also be top tier. Maybe even more so since it's more efficient to turn hp into dmg and mana in hp with SK/CLR than to just turn mana into dmg with the PAL

I think you can run Paladin with more melee dps (like rogue, ranger, monk) and not need cleric at all. Lay on hands every 3 minutes plus other mild sustain (like shaman or Druid and monk mend) and take things down quicker.

That said, there are dozens of good builds not just a couple meta ones.

One of my guildies had lots of good things to say about ber/pal/rog. And he was able to solo minis in hate with that.

HT every 3 minutes makes up for a lot of that melee dps. But yes, the beauty of this server so far is that there are more than just a handful of powerful combos. It's not pet cuck or bust.

Harm Touch needs a buff. 1,000 damage every few minutes is mediocre compared to a full heal every few minutes.

They are planning to make it leech as well. Leech Touch will be removed, and all HTs will leech instead.

They're hyper developing right now which I'm typically not a fan of, but some of this seems like stuff they had planned and hadn't gotten to yet. This pre-order beta is probably going to be very different at the start to where it ends.

Sometimes that's a good thing so people can figure out stuff during release and not worry about already tested metas established in the beta.

Othertimes it's bad because there's some working system people enjoy and they over fine tune it, ruining what people liked about it.

We'll see which way this one goes!

They are at least responsive to the community. The weapon nerf got straight up reversed immediately, and they decided to push out their upgrade path for spells instead.

The problem with Pal/dps/dps is smite can run some pretty bad RNG miss streaks and then you die in higher difficulties. running it with any of the slowers really helps reduce the spikes.

My favorite combos at the moment are SHM/PAL/CLR as I said and then PAL/SHM/ZER for easier content. Shaman and paladin go great together because paladin burns quite a bit of mana on smite and you usually want to use LOH on cooldown if you can, canni really helps you do that while also restoring the mana you just burned.

SK is good too and while HT isn't nearly as good as LOH the rest of the SK kit is miles ahead of paladin.

When they change Leech Touch it will push HT way ahead of LOH. SK/CLR/BRD is one of the solo everything at d4 metas already. Insane sustain.

The more I look into class combos and see people stream/post, Shaman seems to be the most consistent class in top tier builds. I do see quite a bit of SKs and PALs but knights have always had the edge in terms of popularity not to mention their utility in EQ. I'll be curious to see what other builds rise as expansions are released and people discover more items, builds, etc.

I'm probably going to be something like SK/BRD/SHM but we'll see come beta how that feels. We have a group of 4 so we are not quite sure how what we want to do as individuals will mesh just yet.

Everyone in your group can probably play the combo they like and in a group/raid setting you’ll still do great as a team. It doesn’t appear there are difficult enough tiers for pure tank/ dps/ healer builds to matter.
