I have two high school mates that are going to be playing EverQuest for the first time in ….god damn we old…26 years. My other crew of a handful of beards play about every 3-4 years and they’re all in. My little bubble is a small example, but if I had to guess, then I would predict it’ll be the most popular launch in gaybreak’s history for overall humans playing. Looking forward to it, but appreciate all the purists fighting the good fight. You could have saved me 20 bucks, but I went for the slop!

Probably true because I don't know if they've ever had a big launch. If they somehow got 20k people in a day it'd probably be the record. Most of their "big" games were established well after launch (planetside, H1Z1) so the launch numbers probably paled in comparison to the peak numbers when the games got popular.

I'd imagine 10k-15k peak in the first weekend and then a slide after that. Probably 2k after the first sub month expires.

Bet you they maintain a lot more than that.

Entirely possible. The thing that will make people keep playing is constant live service style updates which is a fine line with a nostalgia based game. I could give a shit if they blew up Freeport with a bomb if I got a cool gauntlet wave of Orcs or something, but that would alienate 85% of the base.

When you signed up for the beta it went through DBG. When you preordered it was paid through DBG. It's exactly the same as every other game that DBG owns and has operated the past 20 years. This isn't rocket surgery.
...wtf... I confirmed it went through DBG wtf.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem?

For sure will be tricky. They will likely want to do tons of random shit because they think its cool or they add their special tranny stamp to the game, but I sure hope they don't.

Just adding to and fleshing out your confirmation. Anyone who has participated at all so far should know it first hand.

That is the raison d'etre for this kind of emu project. But this is the one DBG wanted to give a new revenue stream attempt on, so I hope they continue on nicely.

"If you ignore all the popular games of the past, this might be the biggest Daybreak launch ever"

You people never stop making me laugh thanks.

Who would win the stress test for an EMU that is being sued or a "new product" of a legendary IP with a 7 figure advertising budget?

Ascension will be gone by the end of the year, maybe by the end of summer. And DBG doesn't have a 7 figure advertising budget. Unless you mean split between the 20 games they shovel out?
