Hate to bring it back up but THJ was free and everything worked , reallllly worked. I would load up and instance and steam roll. I would duo PoT with a buddy every morning and it worked so well. And it was all free? What’s the deal here ?
That was a passion project (that turned into a money making endeavor). This is a money making endeavor from the start.

Stances/Invocations make this game feel almost like a modern mmo. Unless you're cruise controling blues, when shit hits the fan you're often doing so much actual decision making beyond just hoping your spell goes through or your attacks hit more to save yourself. If anything this is the one thing I think that makes it pull ahead of THJ which was mostly an "auto-attack save me" type game which most of EverQuest really is.

Theory crafting some stuff and I don't know there's a bad combo I can think of outside of maybe something like Ber/Wiz/Enc where you'd have no way of really getting your health back IN combo besides your enchanter pet being a paladin. Every other combo I've thought of has good synergy, especially when invocations overlap.

For instance a Ranger/Dru/Shaman sounds like it'd be weird and bad? Nope. You're literally DPSing in melee (or ranged stance) the entire time BLASTING DD's and DOT's with Divine Invocation on to heal yourself for 100% mana cost ever cast. You could literally be a cleric/dru/shaman and be a shadow priest just nonstop druid nuking and still healing yourself/your party.

Very impressed with those two, stances and invocations. Definitely a great addition.

That's the system that convinced me I needed to try the game. At its core what I like most about EQ, classic WoW, etc is the resource balancing mini game of grinding. Raiding, gear grinding, other end game stuff? Meh. Giving me a compelling loop where I have to balance the bars tickles my 'tism just right apparently. Stances and invocations are really engaging in that way

Xp is slow as shit. You're strong but you still need to kill 20k mobs to level. Aggro radius on d4 seems to be retarded and doesn't appear to have any benefit that I could see besides +4 gear.

Im already bored. All the multiclass shit is just a means to an end and it appears that none of your choices really matter.

For instance the classes all serve basic needs and most of them overlap in a lot of ways. While on the surface is cool to have these classes synergies but a monkdrubard is almost indistinguishable from a warrior/cleric/enc for its functionality and overall power.

Maybe had i never played ascendant I wouldn't look at the server this way but i did, the snails pace of power creep and not really seeing any new content, just feels bad paying for it.

They need to scale difficulty for player count.

Me and a friend duo'ed Yael and Nagafen last night while we were lvl 42 (d0 and d1 for Yael, d0 for Nagafen). We're having a blast, but I do think for long term game health they need to increase the challenge at the top end.

The challenge is probably something they can adjust with Kunark though. Crank up VP while leaving the rest of it very doable for example.

They do, half the group tried d2 the night before and got prison raped. There's group raids and solo raids available from the blobs. Either one will put you in a long lockout for both.

Not sure if this is a troll post? That tutorial area was in the OG game. It's a nostalgia throwback.. and likely a decent idea (even if its a 28yr dated experience), if they plan on pulling new to EQ players.
Imagine defending something shitty being added then claiming it's for nostalgia.

The shitty tutorial was gone by Kunark. Why have it?

Stop trying to defend garbage by claiming nostalgia, they wanna claim that this is a "new game" well stop trying to capitalize on nostalgia from the old game.

The tutorial area is a quirky rework that takes 5 minutes to do gives a decent item and xp and introduces you to a few core systems. Skip it if you hate it, you can buy the boots from any adventure vendor.

Level 44+, what's the best spot? Is it the Hole? LGuk and SolB aren't yielding much. Never tried the Hole before, so can't compare.

Hole or Planes (Fear / Hate) assuming they removed the level requirements to get into the planes. Otherwise, Hole for a couple levels, then the Planes.
