So I have come to the conclusion I do not know what I am doing when it comes meta or anything of the like.

Right now I have locked myself in unrest basement, hit 27 so far. One of my favorite areas back then until I hit 35 or so.

I am kind of just flailing around with AA points currently, but also realizing a lot of the good spells are not auto-populating all the time so buying those in advance for Cleric and Wiz.

I still have to learn this exalt thing where you can slot things into your armor and weapons. Guessing this is for higher level stuff?

Pretty much running unrest at level 2, selling most things, but I did pick up a couple good gear upgrades. @yimmien gave me the belt with 33% haste and 2h'er which is kicking butt so that just may be BiS forever. Other than that I am guessing I should just level up to 46 before starting with the final gear runs?
I really wouldn't worry about the meta in this game. You can start doing Yael, Naggy, and Vox at 40. Phinny, too, I guess, lol. Yeah, I really wouldn't worry about gear until then. Then you can start figuring out which exaltations you want and where you want to spend your motes and all that stuff.

I wore +4 pristine leather or whatever the Befallen stuff is until I was 46. Then leveled to 50 in Hate and geared up there.

random thoughts from old eq sweaty that is just high winging it.

You can get the endurance regen bracer with any class that can sneak in new seb and probably like 50 plat.

sneak the smithing supplies and buy two small ore + 1 water flask and make metal bits from there. 300 to 400 Nets you enough faction to finish the quest from the crusader just outside. Just give it to him. Hand in 4 stacks of 100 at once and youre amiable.

too lazy to do that Kerra ammy. Better option.

The complaints of people needing money…I was like level 15 before I realized I can just literally sell right there on screen and basically made money endless.

dropping anything with an exalt is best to just drop
In your storage tab. It’s like walking around with a bank at least and you don’t have to wonder if that moonstone ring you destroyed was bis for range.

Leveling up spells is important for minus resist. Just do when you’re closer to max. It feels really cheap to level them up to 4/5.

Dispel damage shields. Just do it. Golem wand is an easy clicky to get, even though I still need to (using nullify).

Bouncing stances / innos really is probably the best way to “maximize” your effectiveness during boss fights. E.g sitting in recover is fine but inversion is -20% mana. You just lost what you regened by not switching.

Probably just download maps…although it really is not that hard if you remember EQ well. Raid instances are a little wonky on placement but hilariously easy.

Use “l” spell tab to see what spells are available to you. Can’t mention enough how good new seb is as a gate location. Just spend 1k plat and buy all your spells up to 50 if you want.

abolish disease if you’re slowed. Magic do something else or weigh w.e

Use any/any slot like immediately to at least boost ac.

If you’re a big spell caster or require a lot of buffs quick buff AA is essential. You can add 6 spell slots with AA (cheapish). Right click your spell box icon to save spell load outs. I can have myself/pet fully buffed in like 45 seconds with dps loadout just waiting on mana regen for bosses.

Pal mnk shm I did d4 inny pretty meh as a fresh 50 doing a round of armor farms.

I haven’t touched sky yet. Going to tackle that but honestly I enjoyed 10-50 a lot. I’m probably going to just redo as a completely new combo like some type of cleave / nuke / dungeon damage shield comp. Dru war wiz. Dru war enc. something like that. Definitely a faster dps build.

Once you get enough power, I think just plowing a solo D4 of hate is probably as many 5+ motes as the befallen 4 man D4 grind. Provided you've got good dps and sustain to keep blasting. Just make sure to tuck in to buildings or you'll bring the fucking doomtrain on yourself eventually. Most mobs only have ~12k hp so they take me like 20-30 seconds to kill and give about 7-9% aa per kill.

Also worth noting you can put spells in the spell book you aren't even high enough level to use yet. So if you have the money can get all spells and just learn them so you don't have to deal with it anymore. At least until you start needing dropped spells etc.

Head to Befallen. There are 3 weapons there, easy to get them to + levels. Same with pristine leather. You will use these until Plane of Hate.

In terms of AA, save them until you know what you are doing. Same with motes.

Weaps:

There are two guys next to/near the Baron that drop weap/leather, and are on very short respawn timers. The Baron and the Soldier of V`Zher next to him drop pristine leather armor.

Asaka is easy. On the first floor. Short respawn. The Baron and other guys are on the bottom and might be a PITA at your level.

With 26 years of content the best they can do to keep people busy is slow ass exp, there is only like 3 spots viable at level 50.

AA and motes, the motes are basically another form of AA and that’s it.

The slog is real, I’m not sure what the long term vision is. The mote system might be the biggest time sink in EQ history.

Mote farm is def a slog, especially if you level other class combos to experiment with. AA are easy, getting close to 400 and running out of meaningful things to spend points on...but motes, you need so many once spells/gear start hitting +6.

If you have bis items and plan to stay subbed you'll get a TON of the void motes between now and Kunark. Getting items beyond +6/7 without those voids is kind of silly.

I don’t really mind the slog itself because honestly classic EQ has very little to do. Logging on a killing shit for an hour results in some progression, both in AA and motes. I just don’t think it’s healthy for the best solo option to be leveling an alt class in a level 20 zone.

Also, it seems like they did something to spell stun in the latest patch. I don’t get stunned at all anymore, even from the super annoying mobs like the gorgs in air that always procced the long ass stun

What MR are you running around with? Haven't played a ton this week but I wanna keep an eye on that. Not that I need Gorg anymore.

dont think you can have more than 3 or 4 w/e in your inventory at any time. Maybe I am wrong though.

Yeah its a pain in the ass. I thought THJ leveling of items was slow but at least you put the shit in your level up power slot and got AA exp whilst leveling your item, which only had 3 levels to them. In this iteration there is 10 levels and only way to level them is farm more items, like hundreds, or use the precious motes on them. And of course there was always a chance to get the item to drop +3 so you didnt even have to level it up. Also here you have to level up your good spells too, which is yet another mote sink. In THJ they had clicky items that made your spells do 2x dmg and your heals do 2x healing.

You can have all the shit you want in your inventory. Motes stack up to 1000. You can also have as many items as you have bag slots. I have yet to see anything lore tagged, just lore equipped.
