They should just have changed the loading screens to use Keith Parkinson's EQ cover arts depending on which continent (or planet I guess!) you're entering. It wasn't him anymore doing the covers post-Luclin and the quality dropped like a rock, then they stopped having the frieze-like composition art altogether. Planes of Power was decent, perhaps they used bits already made by Parkinson at the time because it really looked like his style, or they paid a good artist to imitate his art style, but starting with Lost Dungeons of Norrath, it became laughably bad.

I had to turn that off, she can really clear out a room though. Honestly, I really don't give a fuck if someone is trans or whatever just stfu and stop making it even weirder.

Also, I heard if you stay subbed to this longer then the free month you get a hankering for BBC, but I wouldn't know because I cancelled this before free month ended.

Bone Bladed Claymore is pretty easy to get within 1 month. Not sure why you’d get a hankering for it after a month.

Buddy and I ran through the Castle quest. It worked for him, but bugged out for me on the very last step (hail and 'confess'). No problem, went back in solo D0 just to wrap it up, after confessing the mob warped around like a Brazilian player in CoD, went through the wall then despawned. Riveting content.

I did love the version of this zone in EQ2 though. I seem to remember they made a hard raid version of Nektropos in that game too but fucked up and it was basically empty of all loot. Some things never change.


*edit, she just spazzed and warped randomly around the castle again, this time pulling like all 3 floors lol... Time to go play something else, anything else.

Free month expires on the 3rd, just in time for the 4th. Almost like I planned it.

50 War/Shm/Nec, the 3 classes I played back in the day. Killed everything except D4 CT - Dracoliche is a huge amount of ass rape on D3, didn't even try. Got a wizard to 33 in CT and got my Rubi BP back. 200ish AA's.

It's fun enough for $20. I certainly got less out of many games in my steam library. Fun trip down memory lane. Pretty obvious it was never gonna have any staying power or endgame potential. Honestly, they should just release the fucking thing as a single player game I can download and play whenever I want. You don't need anyone else for anything. Not once did I trade with anyone, buy or sell anything to anyone, talk to anyone (aside from just talking shit in general because I was bored) or group with anyone.

There's no actual legitimate reason for this to be an MMO. Let me download it any play it on my own time and max all the characters and run all the dungeons and unlock all the factions and BIS everything and I'll pay another $20 for that.

I am not, however, paying a monthly sub for a single player game. Good luck with all that!

I was never super impressed with legend's discord. Even that first month post launch when population was highest there would only be a handful of posts per day in the class channels. Other channels were pretty unorganized with minimal to no pins and threads from beta or older. I'd imagine general now is just the last 5 diehards for whom discord is their only social outlet.

EQL was never a game you really needed a discord for. Boss strats are non-existent. Maps and spawn guides are in the wiki or any of a hundred EQ guides from the last 27 years. The game itself is single player. There were always questions about meta builds but the answer to every question is some combination of mote up or git gud.

tldr: anyone left on EQL discord probably only checks in while doom scrolling their server list and is probably already in a multi-game guild and/or you wouldn't want them in your WoWF guild anyway.

I finally got back to Legends and played Nektropos Castle. Went through it all without spoilers/walkthroughs. It was interesting.

One thing I've been impressed with/reminded of going through all of these older zones in Legends is just how much love the original devs put into zone design. So many just little things that made the zones feel lived in. This zone doesn't have that. It feels very sterile.

The story/quest itself was good...the ending was a little underwhelming. Just, like..."Oh...I'm done? Ok."

I think I liked the mechanics for the Librarian and C'rate even if they were annoying dying to the first time. The main boss itself is annoying...you basically have to "cheese" it, even on D0. I guess it wouldn't be fun to just be another tank and spank, but without spoiling the fight...it would have been better with fewer phases. I don't know that I care to try to do it on D4.

Seems like most people are farming The Game Master for an earring. I upgraded a Ring and technically some Arms are better than my Valorium, but they're close enough that I'm not going to mess with my aesthetic. Also got a Shield that might be an upgrade to one of my shields...so there are upgrades to be had in the zone.

So today they dropped the third patch to fix all the issues with Nek Castle. (Glad they spent weeks making a worthless zone with zero QC.)

And of course they managed to break LoH and HT.

Just release old-fashioned Kunark, maybe with a new level of mote or something easy. Stop making shit complicated.

But they just keep kicking themselves in the dick. (Queue Secrets joke ....)
