When I watch anything that is released by the game - the foreground of everything just seems boring and "gamey". While the background always opens up to a big vista, or has, something that "catches the eye" in the back. I believe it was New World that had that one guy that was always like "hurr durr - Im creating doors that are intricate and unique" and we had a whole 5-10 minute video of the different types of doors. Woo... neat. A door that opens up in a way that isnt just a swinging door! ...
I can forego all the art-fag shit like that IF - the combat game is deeper than a puddle, and the skill tree has real choices in it. You can do full on Wizarding, Harry - or you can do Space Magic Assassin. Your choice and... by extension, that choice effects dialogue throughout the game. Im always just kind of "meh" about the Dungeons and Dragons type of point system where your stat has to be exactly 18 or higher and then hope on a dice roll that you get the response you want. Much rather have made a choice in the game, myself, that depicts whether I get that option or not entirely. Much rather make a choice during a combat encounter where I did "this" instead of "that" and got a dialogue decision "reward" later on. IE. "The choices I make in game, decide my journey" etc.
As far as the Bioware guy leaving the company, Im only partially interested in the "why" because it begs the question "did he leave because of something mundane and sensible, like pay?" Or was he ousted from the company because he didnt have "the vision" of the woke, dei, bullshit train that almost every major gaming company has, now? It would certainly twist my expectations of the game from wait a couple weeks for player reviews, to a wait and see if it goes on sale immediately or pirate it. Mods ultimately deciding on the latter.
I've been fiending for a game like this, so seeing it be kind of lack luster in playthrough trailers is kind of sad.
