External Disc Ripper

If you are wanting to eventually be able to rip 4K uhds, the options are getting slimmer and slimmer. I was able to snag a pioneer drive awhile back that can do it, but they stopped making drives. You’re basically going to want to look at the Makemkv forums and look for drives that are amenable to being reflashed or buy one off the guys that will do it for you.

Blu ray drives that can be flashed to rip 4k blu-rays in a reasonable amount of time are about $300 now. Then you need the software and patience. It can take quite a long time to rattle off a 4k disc. And then you need the hard disks to store it all. Even small 8tb disks are $250-300. And then you need backup because you don't want 100's of hours to go down the drain because your main platter drive shit the bed. You will want at least 2 of these extra.

And then all the software which seems to always break. Streaming stuff which breaks and has giant security holes that never get patched.

I have all this shit, and have no tolerance for it. I put plastic disk into standalone player and relax. Takes 20 seconds per movie, and saves a lot of time, aggravation, and money.

Just download a remux IMO at a certain point unlimited data plan has to be cheaper
