25 hours into my next game, launched the rocket... got the 'you win' screen.

I pinged a friend, he said he didn't get that message when he launched his first rocket yesterday.

This is how I learned that apparently I never got around to buying the DLC.

Hey guys, the game will convert an existing save to space age... fyi... lol.

Is that pyanodon designed for Space Age, or does it only really change Nauvis stuff?

Last I heard they have been working on stabilizing with all the new 2.0 stuff, then they will start adding in the space stuff, 2.0 has tons of new features for mods in general.

Pyanodon seems so exhausting to play, how exhausting must it be to upgrade and maintain???

I got to Circuit 2 in it and just stopped..

Work got busy and I don't even think I have the world anymore, all the research stuff (for beyond Circuit 2)is very very odd.

Bob's mods are not pyanodon.

The latter is about 10x Bob's mods.

The creator even said you aren't supposed to play them. It was a meme creation.

People do play it though, a lot of people enjoy the challenge. I did enjoy Pys and probably would have kept going but work > Factorio.

A new GayWad steps into the arena.

Finally got tired of seeing this on my Wishlist and never getting a discount. First run is pure vanilla, peaceful. Spent a couple hours yesterday just figuring out how to get a two locomotive train to automate between two stops haha. Military science packs this afternoon. I will still need to do those even on peaceful right? There's a nasty bunch of nests too close to where my first oil patch is going to be and my current firepower can't get em cleared out.

Yeah you probably need to do military science even on peaceful. Peaceful just means they only attack if you attack them first, so you can clear them out at your leisure. Normally biters will convert pollution from your factory into more biters, then when they have too many biters will explore the map toward the pollution and attack your buildings.

Playing on peaceful mode is totally legitimate, but I'd recommend playing on an easy setting without peaceful mode because you're missing a big part of the game.

Funny, I almost tagged Tuco Tuco the other day to see if you'd started a Space Age/Space Exploration game yet, since it appears to have been updated finally.

I haven't decided if I want to yet. And if I do, if I want to add K2, or some other mod on top of it, for extra craziness. My one SE playthrough was just SE alone.

I bought Dyson Sphere Program and only got about an hour into it and so far it hasn't grabbed me yet.

As far as I can tell, Space Exploration has been updated to use Factorio 2.0, but not the Space Age expansion. Space Exploration Discord - Group Chat That’s All Fun & Games . I wouldn't do another playthrough until it's fully realized.

SE is basically built by one guy (Earendel) so slow development is totally normal but I'm kinda surprised it's going this slowly based on my naive assumption that he was guiding the Space Age development along the paths he wanted for Space Exploration.

I don't know if I'll ever play it though. I think about Factorio now and then and my personality is such that I wouldn't do another playthrough unless it was to build an even bigger version of my factory. And my factory in Space Exploration was so absurdly massive even with everything I learned building it, it would still take me >400 hours to build a substantially bigger one! And the natural limitations of the game mean that a bigger factory would break the normal structures of the game such that I would be creating copies of them rather than making bigger or more efficient ones.

For example, at 48:27 the Acrosphere balancer couldn't be made better.

Having seen around 50 of them it's the best one I've seen in terms of UPS and throughput for that size. If I doubled my production I would simply make two of them with the exact same build, which is lame. The reason it can't be made bigger is that it relies on a central warehouse for the balancers, which make it very reactive. If it was made bigger, you'd need more drones and they'd fly longer distances and you'd need more arcospheres, etc. If anything I'd make 4 to 8 smaller ones, which could be neat but wouldn't be as aesthetically pleasing in my opinion.

Another example is the Core Mining that's integral to the game. To scale up my factory I would need to explore more planets. The only planet I explored multiple of was the vitamelange planet. Building the first version was a fun, new experience. The second one was a boring copy with no new puzzles to solve.

Anyway, that's what goes through my head whenever I think about playing Space Exploration again.

Ah, didn't realize it was just an update for 2.0 and not Space Age. Good to know. It's a bitch to figure out what's happening with the mod, even combing through the Discord. Guess I'll put it off as well.

My next builder game I want to play is Song of Syx, but I also haven't played Dyson Sphere Program in a long time. I'd recommend giving that a deeper try at least until you build your first Dyson Sphere, which is where the whole experience really clicks.

For sure, this first run is purely to learn the systems. Ass biters after that.
