More than likely - we know House never gets the cold fusion device, but the Enclave did have it by the time we see it in season 1.

I strongly suspect the cryotubes we saw in the episode are a red herring as well - they'll probably be empty and Barb will be at an Enclave facility. House mentions Barb was signing off on all the vaults and the Enclave scientist in s1 knew about Lucy and her vault, which would suggest they were being fed updated information on the vaults. It would also explain why Coop didn't get to go with Barb - The Enclave would have allowed the kid out of pragmatism, but an adult that isn't aligned with them? Barb would have abandoned him because it would at least mean a chance at life vs. certain death by the Enclave.

My #3 suspect for Enclave is Stephanie (even though she is Canadian). If Hank is Enclave, then by extension Stephanie probably is because she specifically requested an item from Hank's quarters (probably FEV vials).

The Claudia girl that is being friendly with Norm could be a plant too. This episode did sell a bit more the "innocent person caught up in a Vault Tec experiment", but she could be a honeypot. Norm does have very good computer skills and the Enclave isn't above recruiting sufficiently pure humans if they have needed skill sets and demonstrate they're on board with everything. Given he has been in a vault this entire time and assuming his dad is Enclave, that could give him an in. I don't think Vault 33 is surviving the season and they'll need to give him a plotline when all that goes to shit. Having him serve as the viewer's eyes in The Enclave could be a possible plotline in s3 if they go there.
I think Barb being Enclave is the most likely suspicion. They’d never let a filthy Canadian into their order since American Purity is their core tenet.

It gets deeper:

Maybe Barb has been out a while and Claudia is actually Howard and Barb's daughter grown up. Could still be an Enclave operative all grown up and trained by Barb. Something definitely felt off about her and she was ambiguously ethnic.

We're 100% getting Super Mutants vs DeathClaws. Not this season, maybe, but sometime. Sometime.

For that to work, you'd have to have Claudia grow up THEN get put on cryo in Vault 31. Plus risking her being exposed to FEV? Not saying it is impossible, but that would involve a lot of good plausible writing to make work.

I do think Coop's daughter being grown up is very likely, though. Kids grow up and the longer a show goes on, the harder it becomes to pass the same actor off as a kid.

Coop's kid aging out will be a problem, like in all TV shows. Hell, when she answered the door earlier this season, there was some weird artifacting that had me wonder if they didn't digitally alter her height.

It'll be even worse if they go earlier in the timeline to cover New Plague material.

I don't think Claudia is Coop's kid, but I do assume it's all an act and she's actually Enclave.

Almost as if the Faggotry of Steel wasn't in the episode.

People gonna hate the person behind the Super Mutant voice, but if you are going to voice a Super Mutant, its kind of the perfect voice.

Interesting it was an intelligent super mutant that knew The Enclave was behind FEV. Wonder if this will be a previous super mutant character or not, like Marcus

Also interesting the Enclave scientist from
S1 is pre-war and was the shadow figure from the s1 meeting. The episode seems to suggest that Barb is involved with the Enclave but maybe isn’t fully aware of their scope.

My new prediction: Ghoul takes Maximus to Lucky 38 and uses cold fusion to revive AI House (I think the theory that the strip is irradiated because the Lucky 38 reactor melted down is a solid one). Ghoul needs House to help find the Enclave after he realizes his family isn’t in the corporate vault. Season will end with a stinger/cliffhanger showing Janey Howard is grown up and working for The Enclave (like Father in Fallout4)

I hate The Man Behind the Curtain.

Obviously, that actor does well with parts where his alignment is in question, and he was a big actor for his screen time up to this point, but there was nothing - NOTHING - that suggested he was someone in a position of power in the footage so far. Nor is there any rational reason for his actions back in Season 1 now.

Hell, unless he's clones, this is the hackiest of retcons I've seen in TV in years. Then again, we've already seen them retconning things even from S1 with Shady Sands - now the nuke is simultaneous with the Fall of Shady Sands, and don't question who would have put up the billboard in that season.

Also, the Ghoul's setup was unbelievably clunky. He couldn't threaten anyone with a gun to bring a vial to him, or cut him down? And even if no one would help him, no one rushed to rob him / grab the stuff from the ground either?

Did you miss the part where he said he would be killed if he didn’t deliver the message? He came across as a messenger, not a major power player. Clearly cryotech is involved - Moldaver clearly had to have been frozen, for example

The episode previous made it apparent the Man Behind The Curtain was real Mr. House. He said "you and I both heard your wife tell him" and it literally cuts to his shadowed silhouette smoking a cigarette.

The S1 scientist guy I think was just a means to show that the Enclave probably has similiar time-gappers like Vaulters and definitely sets it up for a Barbara and/or Janey Enclave lineup.

Apparently Lost references have aged out: The Man Behind the Curtain (Lost) - Wikipedia was the first episode to have flashbacks for Michael Emerson's character.

(Fun fact: Jon Gries - the NCR Ranger who gets mind-chipped here - was also in that Lost episode as Emerson's dad.)

The point remains - there is no in-universe reason why Autistic Scientist Dork would be the one tapped to give Barb threats, nor any obvious reason why he would be frozen / given a longevity formula to do scut work like weighing puppies centuries later.

I never watched Lost, so that is why the reference didn't work lol

I'm sure there is a perfectly in-universe reason why he was picked. He may have already been working at Vault Tec and clearly he had more duties than the dog program, given his lab had the cold fusion module.

He was also the werewolf in The Monster Squad, and I think he played a werewolf vampire monster man in Fright Night 2.
