Kind of hard to shake the conclusion that nothing really happened in the season, other than the showrunners saying "All the factions are somehow still around twenty years later, just everyones' forces are nerfed to the point that we can do whatever we want with them in the future."

Well, I suppose the Vault 31 faction is done, but that was some terrible plotting to get there.

That was the end?

WTF? Seems like they were setting up the legion vs NCR fight at hoover dam and just left it hanging? I mean it was a good episode but I didn't realize they were ending it there. Utter bullshit!

Guess they spent all the budget doing shitty uncanny valley de-aging of Hank and couldn’t afford a battle scene.

It was pretty clear they weren't going to wrap up the storylines this season and were going to finish them in S3. But ya, kind of a blueball way to end things lol

Thoughts on some things

Mr. House confirming it was his body in FONV, not the fake House like people assumed it may be. He basically made a realtime backup in the event his body died. So that was cool, even though he side stepped what happened beyond "wanderers trying to murder him" lol

NCR isn't totally gone

Caesar saying the legion dies with him is in character - people correctly predicted what his note would say

How the fuck did Quintis get Liberty Prime schematics? It said Liberty Prime Alpha, so some type of variant I presume, although I'm not sure how he expects to build the damn thing while under attack unless the unit is already in Area 51.

Season 3 predictions:

1) Mr House stops the Legion with his Securitrons and makes a truce with the NCR remnants. He becomes a sort of ally vs. The Enclave, although he still has his own wants.
2) Barb leaving a post card in the cyropod confirms she was there at some point. I strongly suspect Coop's daughter is grown up and works for The Enclave. Barb is either old or got defrosted after her daughter...probably the later since that saves on makeup
3) Quintis eventually attacks Vegas with Liberty Prime after he resolves the BoS civil war. House either gets destroyed or hijacks Liberty Prime (it is partially designed by RobCo)

S2 feels like the middle sequel of a movie trilogy. Not a whole lot happens except a ton of setup for the next part.

I enjoyed the season but S3 needs a big payoff to make the lull worth it.

I got the feeling New Vegas is done - the NCR still somewhat exists, Caesar's Legion still somewhat exists (remember, canonically their power base was in the East), and House exists again and will presumably regroup with more securitron forces and be a force later on - but there's no in-show reason why they would be fighting over New Vegas. Yeah, we had the Caesar's Palace joke, but you just have the NCR force fight them and then the Legion regroups east of the Colorado river.

Frankly, that was probably one of the worst handled parts of the season - establishing why anyone is fighting over New Vegas. I'm not sure if the words "Hoover Dam" were even mentioned this season, and that's the actual reason anyone other than Coop & Hank (and whoever is chasing after them) care about New Vegas.

Was there a coherent story told in S2? One that went anywhere? Did it accomplish anything? It just meandered till it petered out and ended.

It was a well-made, well-acted show, but what the fuck is wrong with writers these days? It's like they are all feeding a few ideas into AI and shitting out scripts.

Season 1 was fun because they brought the Fallout Universe to life, but they haven't told a story worth telling yet. All this slop is just a waste of time.

Whole season felt aimless with a few small plot points sprinkled throughout. Really have no idea what was going on most the time.

Hey, the season established a... second kind of sleeper agent with the chips (we already had Institute synths) - except unlike synths, these are effectively new people post-chippage, which means they can't really engage in any subterfuge, so I'm not sure what the point is, other than pacifying savages?

Honestly, Steph is the most interesting part of the season - being Canadian, her goals aren't going to align with The Enclave / Vault-Tec. That said, her storyline doesn't appear to make much sense either - she wants the E(nclave)-Boy _before_ Woody overhears the conversation with Betty (and Chet finds out she's Canadian), so she doesn't want the E-Boy to pacify the riot, which leaves, what, she wants to Phase 2 Vault 32 so she can chase after Hank? doesn't like being Overseer*? What's her motivations here?

*Also, why is Vault 32 saying "Death to Management"? Overseers are elected - we saw it happen in S1 for Vault 33. Even if you theorize the vaults are rigged to promote overthrowing the overseer, that completely goes against the designed breeding program of Vault 31. I'm unconvinced any of this actually holds together.

Lot of people being reminded of Westworld, which in S1 took an existing sci-fi property, used great plotting and flashbacks to tell a tight storyline... and then fell apart in later seasons as the writers rooms apparently devolved into "Anyone got any ideas for next season, because we sure didn't set up anything?"

Presumably Steph was told by Hank what phase 2 was and how it would shake down. Although unless there is an escape hatch in the overseer office, not sure what her plan is to actually escape or survive (since presumably phase 2 involves FEV)

Season 2 was a continuation of season 1: Ghoul looking for his family, Lucy looking for father, Maximus realizing the BoS isn’t what he thought it was. Multi season story arcs have to be judged by how much they move the story forward. It’s clear next season will be an all roads lead to Enclave situation story wise
